Commercial Description:
This Export Lager features a single stage decoction—a first for Tröegs Brewery. After combining barley and water we transfer a portion of the mash to the brew kettle for a quick boil. The heated mash is then returned to the mash kettle and the brewing process continues. This process deepens the malt character and adds a subtle toffee backbone to this delicious lager.

We’ve added Magnum hops for bittering and Czech Saaz hops for aroma to create a classic European Noble hop flavor.

Scratch #6-2007 is unfiltered, so there will be a slight haze to the beer.

Bottle. I’ve seen a lot of great looking beers and this is as good as any of them when poured into a Hennepin glass. Gold with a thick, white head. Aroma is bread with a hint of lemon, like a cupcake. Flavor is a great mix of zesty citrus and pineapple. Nice light flavor makes this a really refreshing beer. Bravo!

Bottled. Poured hazy brighter golden with some chunkage floating around in there.. short white head. The aroma picked up citrus notes first and foremost with sour and spiciness evident.. I couldn’t pick out much of the malt bill, but honey came through. The flavor opened with tangy orange zest and spicy floral bitterness, with sourdough bread and a pinch of honey sweetness rolling into the middle.. spicy and brighter throughout, which gave it a refreshing feel on the finish. Lighter-bodied with medium, rolling carbonation across the palate.. OK feel, but a bit too sharp and a rather tacky at the end.

Poured a hazy yellow color with a stiff off-white head. Aroma of grainy cereal and a touch of grass. Some sulfur as it warms. Earthy hops with a clean malt base. Light citrus middle. Short malt and long fairly dry bitter finish. Light body.

A typical D/H. Has a bit more bite to it than most which is a good thing. Aroma was very weak. Could pick up some grass and not much else. Pour was a nice murky medium gold with a one finger white head and some thousands of tiny floaties (I love that they didn’t filter this!). Taste was nice, crisp and refreshing. Light pilsener malt all the way through with some hops coming out to dry the mouth and bitter the tongue. Great carbonation and dryness. I’ve upped the ratings twice as I finish the glass.

cheers to Beerlando for this one! Sweet malty aroma honey with a hint of cereal grains. Pours cloudy yellow with a thin white head. Sweet malts, hints of citrus, grassy, a good bite and dry finish. Not bad and easy to drink.

Bottle. Deep hazy golden in color with a little white head. Bready malty citrusy aroma. Lemon, orange citrusy notes. Malty and fruity flavor. Pineapple notes. Crisp and refreshing. Finish is dry. Very drinkable.
