xpimptastikx (27), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 7, 2008 Bottle thanks to lb4lb. Pours cloudy dark amber with a light off white head. The bananas and clove come through with the white wheat, but with lovely bits of malty-ness. bitbucket (1572), Kirkland, Washington, USA Oct 5, 2008 Bottle, thanks hopdog! Pours cloudy dark amber with an off-white head that descends to a ring of foam. Fruit and spice aroma with a hint of bubblegum. (Got a cold at the moment and my sniffer isn’t currently up to par, so there may be tons of other stuff lurking in the aroma and taste.) Medium body and fine carbonation. Sweet and chewy fruit and caramel taste with a soft clove-spiced finish with a dash of banana. All in all, this is one tasty beer even with a cold. thickfreakness (107), Austin, Texas, USA Sep 13, 2008 Bottle thanks to jtrockchalk on BA. Pour is very hazy, dark amber with a short lived off white head. Aroma of huge banana, tons of clove and other spice. Flavor is much of the same with clove, all-spice, less banana and very well hidden alcohol. Medium body with a lot of lingering sweetness. Overall the spice was a little much for me. fordest (1778), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Sep 9, 2008 12 oz bottle shared by toncatcher. Dark hazy pour. Aromas of banana and hints of spice. Strong clove on the flavor. Yeast in there too. Pretty good. I like this style. kramer (1888), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 5, 2008 12 oz bottle, gifted by acrdz. Pours a mostly clear amber body with a small fizzy beige head that fell to a wispy film. Nice husky and earthy wheat with a good amount of yeast character, some overripe bananas and light coffee. Maybe a touch of smoke? Pretty nice flavor, very earthy, almost tastes a little like it has a little rye. Lots of yeast, banana bread, and a touch of alcohol. Mouthfeel is full and fairly thick with soft gentle carbonation. Could be a little softer and creamier. Overall, a decent effort, but a long way from the German classics.
