badgerben (3001), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Nov 30, 2005 Dark ruby color with a thin head. Dry malt aroma with some maple syrup floating around. The taste is laden with bittersweet malt. A slightly nutty finish.
smaynard6000 (44), New Castle, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 16, 2008 Very dark pour with a small beige head. Very nutty caramel flavor to this one. Medium body that leaves a sweet flavor in the mouth. A nice brown ale. pepsican (645), the beer wastelands of, Iowa, USA Jul 11, 2008 Near black pour with a thin off white head. Nutty caramel aroma. Flavor is more nuts, heavy caramel, figs, and honey. Sweet finish, decent carbonation. DragonsHead (101), Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 6, 2008 Good character for a brown ale. Hoppy aroma with a roasted malty backbone. Deep, full flavored taste with some sweet notes. gpekar (117), USA Jul 6, 2008 Updated: Jul 12, 2008Poured a dark brown cola color with some orange/red highlights at the edges of the glass. There was a 1" tan head that disappated about 1/2 way through the glass. There was nice lacing while the head remand. There was a mild nutty aroma and some sweetness. There was a good nutty flavor and a slightly dry finish. Hints of chocolate were detected in the aroma and flavor as I was drinking through the glass. At only 4.4% ABV this is a good beer to have over & over. From a variety pack Slipstream (315), USA Jun 30, 2008 Pours like a classic brown ale with a foamy cresty. Aroma is first rate - malty, rich, and sweet. The label has the footprint of a hiking shoe on it, but is nothing special otherwise. The taste is packed with malty sweetness, coffee, cola, and a hint of citrus too. Medium body and fairly light carbonation. A little sweet and under-hopped for my sensors, but a solid brew overall.
