This northwest IPA is bold and balanced, with a rich malty flavor and a strong hop presence. We use premium 2-Row, Crystal, Munich and Victory malts to create the perfect base for showcasing Yakima-grown Columbus hops. After one sip you’ll agree, this is one hoppy bitch of a beer. 6.3% ABV 80 IBU

Sampled from the bottle and Winter Dabbler. Pours a hazy orange gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has notes of grassy hops with a growing pine note and a bit of a bread backbone. Flavor has a decent amount of pine a bit of bitter citrus and a bit of grain backing.

Pours hazy deep straw with fluffy off white head. Nice aroma of resiny hops. Flavor falls flat. No perceived bitterness and lacking malt character just really lacking all around. Zero finish. Not good.

Bottle. Bright copper color with great clarity, thick sandy head. Thick sheets of lacing. The nose is pretty bright with citrus and pine. Toasty malts. A little malty sweet up front, then floral bitterness comes through. Light on the citrus… light on the hops actually. A little bready malt flavor comes through. Finishes with a lingering, but slightly soapy bitterness. Not a bad IPA, but when you say hoppy and come from the PNW…

Bottle. Orange-tinged beer with quite the rollicking head of foamy topping. This is more malt-forward than what many might expect from something with such an obtuse name. But there is also a healthy dose of woodsy, chewy hops, too. (#6061, 11/14/2015)

Can. Orange-gold, low off white head. Malty, earthy, some orange, bitter finish. Lacking brightness. And stupid name.

Bottle pours a golden amber with a fluffy white top. Caramel, citrus and grain nose. Taste is citrus, pine resin and bitter. Nice

Draught today. A: Lots of grapefruit and pine. Tropical fruit too. A: 1 finger head. See through amber body. T: Pine and grapefruit dominate. Biscuity malt, tropical fruit, and resin are subtle. P: Crisp and too resiny. It’s a little too watery and not as bubbly as I like. O: It’s an ok IPA, but a little rough.

Sample as part of a blind IPA tasting. The beer is a dark copper color with a medium thin white head that evaporates steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, hops and malt. Light to medium body with flavors of floral hops, fruit and doughy malt. The finish is mildly bitter with an herbal hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a lightly hazed golden amber color with a one finger head of a pure white billowy foam. The head fades relatively slowly leaving a ton of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the brew is heaviest of a grassy and herbal nature with a little bit of a cracker smell. A hint of a caramel and pine are there as well, creating a somewhat drier, but robust aroma overall. Taste – The taste begins with a drier cracker taste mixed with some hop flavors of an herbal and slightly grapefruit nature. The grapefruit remains rather tame throughout the taste with the herbal hop getting stronger and being joined by some other hop tastes of a grassy nature. A hint of caramel and fruit come more toward the end, but these remain very light overall, just adding a hint of flavor to the brew. With a little bit of a floral hop and more grass coming at the very end, one is left with a rather crisp and more dankly hopped taste to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side to lower side in terms of its thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is slightly higher. While the crispness of the body and higher more tingly carbonation did match the crisp cracker like malt flavors of the brew rather well, just a hint more body may have been nice for the hop flavors of the brew. Overall the feel was decent. Overall- A rather nice more dankly hopped and drier tasting IPA. A good one to ty if you get the opportunity.
