3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 nbutler11 (1261) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAR 6, 2009Bottle brought back from WA. A vast improvement over the last Laughing Buddha beer I tasted. Pours dark brown with a trim oatmeal colored head. Brimming with the aroma of molasses and borwn sugar. Has a nice robust flavor profile that features caramel, toasted malts, barley, and hazelnut. Well balanced with a viscous Scotch Ale sort of mouthfeel. Solid.

(bottle - 22 oz) Clear ruby red/brown pour with a thin white head. Sweet and malty aroma with some light earthy hints. Smooth and malty at the start with an earthy and nutty middle. Some dark malts and honey come through at the end.

22 ounce bottle that poured a toffee, caramel color with aromas of roasted malt, choclate, and little hops. Tasted like a brown ale with some added spice and wood/ash flavoring, maybe some smoke? Overall a decent brew and was better than i expected.

„Asia-Shop“-Geruch, kernig, leicht süß. Malzig-würziger Antrunk, etwas fremdartig, herb-würzig auf asiatische Weise. Leicht nach Soja, angenehm aromatisch, im Verlauf weiter würziger werdend. Im Abgang zudem sehr interessant aromatisch, desweiteren süßlich-röstig. Sehr intersssant! Vielen Dank an den Doppelbock für das Bier! 7/11/12/11/7/11

Draft, Exbeerience. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Has a lightly sweet, nutty, roast coffee aroma to it. Tastes toasty and nutty with a little bit of a grassiness. Had a buttery diacetyl taste and aroma that I don’t recall it having last time I taste it that dropped this a few points for me. The other beer of theirs I tried was really loaded with butter, so I’m wondering if it’s a recent issue in general for Trade Route. Still, this was pretty decent and I want to give it another try later. I know that it can be better.

pours brown, off-white head, effervescent.
aroma, funky leafy, nutty, caramel, unusual but interesting.
flavor, palm sugar definitely adds a refreshing palate, fruity, apple like, leafy/herbal mouthfeel with a nice and mild nutty palate. Medium carbonation. As the beer warmed up, the whole butty, palm sugar and pandan leaf became more prominent.
Worth the try and nice use of ingredients I wasn’t expecting to see in a beer.
5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 deadoralive (11) - California, USA - FEB 11, 2010
Clear chestnut color with a fleeting head. Nice nutty aroma is wasabi noodles and brown sugar. Medium body and very smooth. Classic nut brown ale flavor is lightly sweet brown sugar with a Wok stir fry nutty herbal twist. Tasty stuff, I’ll for sure pick up more of this on my next trip to Seattle.

On tap at Taste Restaurant. Pours dark brown with a beige head and some lace. Aromas of brown sugar, nuts, and roasted malts. This is a very sweet brown with much nutty caramel taste and no real bitterness.
