Commercial Description:
In Bavaria, a unique strain of wheat beer yeast produces an array of distinct flavor qualities typical of a true Hefeweizen: citrus, bubble gum, clove and banana. Trader Joe’s Bavarian-style Hefeweizen is fermented with this exceptional strain. In accordance with the German purity law, this superior beer is brewed with a minimum of 5% malted wheat. Beer Stats 5.3% ABV, 12 I.B.U. Fermented with top fermenting yeast. Brewed for Trader Joe's specialty grocery stores.

...bottle. Not bad for the price. SLightly watery, but good citrus on the nose, orange and lemon. Body is light, with wheat malt, slight hints of clove, and some candy sweetness. Decent carbonation, with an easy drinking feel. Finish is slightly artificial and metallic, but not too bad compared to the price. Decent, and a good buy.

12 oz bottle from TJs. pours a cloudy dark yellow-orange with a rapidly diminishing white head. The aroma is estery bananas and wheat. The flavor is surprisingly robust with good hefe character, I get banana, pear, and apple. The mouthfeel is full and satisfying. The finish is medium in duration with a slight metallic astringency. Overall: A very good hefe with strengths overshadowing weaknesses.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with minimal white head. Nose is very faint with mild bubblegum and wheat. Taste is spicier than the Hefe I just had with cloves, some pepper and banana. Finish is fairly dry with some sweet citrus that lingers. Lighter mouth feel. Not great, but drinkable and cheap.

bottle.Vigorous pour yeilds a huge creamy head on top of a very hazy bright orange-yellow brew. Nose is mostly candy sweet bubblegum, light notes of spice. Flavor is more yeasty and balanced, with some nice crisp citric bitterness, clove notes, and smooth malty sweetness. Very crisp and light on the palate, with s slight bitter finish. Like the reviewer below noted- quite a suprise for trader joe’s! Very good, and very cheap to boot.

Bottle. Huge bubblegum component in the sweet, yeasty nose. Mineral water and wheat. Hazy golden body with a firm white head. Crisp attack, light body just a smidgen above watery, spicy bubblegum again dominant and lingering until the bready and yeasty dryness kicks in in the aftertaste. Lemony citrus. Too thin and simple for the big score, but then again, spritzy, fresh, and relatively interesting for such easy drinking - a surprise find in Trader Joe’s!
