COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Bavaria, a unique strain of wheat beer yeast produces an array of distinct flavor qualities typical of a true Hefeweizen: citrus, bubble gum, clove and banana. Trader Joe’s Bavarian-style Hefeweizen is fermented with this exceptional strain. In accordance with the German purity law, this superior beer is brewed with a minimum of 50% malted wheat. Beer Stats 5.3% ABV, 12 I.B.U. Fermented with top fermenting yeast. Brewed for Trader Joe’s specialty grocery stores.

The best overall choice of the Trader Joe’s beers. It’s hard to get a bavarian style hefe up here with many opting for the more US-focused citrus flavors. This is a bit thin for an unfiltered beer, but the taste is crisp and nice

"this beer is still a touch on the boring side, but has a nice balance to it. i recommend it for the price, but not if you can afford better beers. just ok."

355ml bottle. Hazed bronw gold pour, big fluffy white head. Smell is clove and banana and a hint of bubblegum. Flavor is again clove and bubblegum, a more bubblegummy and sweet hefeweizen, very much like the industrial north german takes on the style. It is decent.

This is a pretty run-of-the-mill hefeweizen, which unfortunately means it’s not very good. It is the requisite cloudy orange color w/ a small creamy head. This is a more spice forward example of the style esp. in the nose, which is fine by me, but where it really goes south is when you taste it. It’s too sweet and heavy. The carbonation is vigorous but rather than being creamy, it is prickly and seems out of place w/ the thick, full body of the beer. All of these faults are pretty common in hefeweizens made both in Germany and elsewhere so maybe some people like them like this. Me, I want a fresh, vibrant yeasty nose and a creamy but light texture and this beer simple doesn’t have that.

This is not a good hefeweizen. In all honesty Widmer is 10 times better than this crap. I only bought this because Trader Joe’s has some great unique products and I thought this would be one of them, I was wrong.

Bottle to hefe glass. Best by 11/2014. Tons of banana and bubble gum in the nose and taste. Not much citrus or clove but it is there. This isn't bad but the taste is a bit of a let down after the nose. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Trader Joe’s Bavarian Style Hefeweizen has an extremely thick, off-white head, a cloudy (and, it gets much cloudier when the bottom contents are swished and poured in), fiercely bubbly, golden appearance, and heavy lacing left behind on the glass. The aroma of pungent, sweet, spiced cake, and the flavor is of wheat bread crust, spiced cake, coriander, strong cloves, lemon, sugar, background tap water, and yeast. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy and soft, and Trader Joe’s Bavarian Style Hefeweizen finishes semi-dry and exceptionally drinkable. RJT

From the bottle. Pour is orange/gold with an medium sized head. The aroma is nicely balance with banana and clove. Creamy palate and flavor with banana, clove, and a bit of spice within the overall sweet taste. Definitely will be my go-to Hefeweizen at this price.

It poured a cloudy orange/golden color with a small white head. The aroma was of banana, bubblegum, lemon and some grain. The taste was of clove, bubblegum, banana, some fruits and spices. Good stuff.

Turbid orange pour - fluffy, fairly lasting head - nose of overripe apple, clove, white pepper, light banana, tangy wheat - nice, full, creamy mouthfeel, but still light and quaffable - flavor is mildly sweet and lightly tangy, but mostly a dry mix of bready wheat and phenols of clove and pepper - finish is dry, with some nutmeg and other spicy notes - lingering peppery flavor - this is a solid Hefe - given the price, I may have just found my go-to Hefe for the summer.
