3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, best before 9/28/2014. Pours slightly hazy bright golden amber color with a 2 finger foamy white head with decent retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with plenty of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of pear, apple, grape, lemon zest, clove, orange peel, pepper, ginger, light banana, wheat, herbal, light bubblegum, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of yeast esters and spicing; with a moderate malt balance and good strength. Taste of pear, apple, grape, lemon zest, clove, orange peel, light banana, pepper, wheat, herbal, light ginger, light bubblegum, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of light fruits, citrus, light banana, wheat, herbal, light ginger, light bubblegum, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of yeast, spice, and malt flavors; with zero cloying sweetness present after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth, crisp, and slightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice spiced Belgian golden ale. All around nice balance and complexity of spice and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Consumed: June 21, 2013
Misc.: Best before Feb. 4, 2015
Poured a golden straw sparkling color with four fingers of frothy, foamy white head. Minimal-to-average lacing on the sides. Very good retention all the way down.
Smelled spicy Belgian notes, orange peel, cloves, floral notes, sour fruit, kiwi, oranges and slight Circus Peanuts candy. Very nice.
Tasted those spicy peppery Belgian notes. Cloves, orange peel, orange, grapefruit peel, Circus Peanut candy, kiwi, tart notes and floral notes. Just a step down from the smell.
Light body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Long finish.
Really enjoyed this beer. It just got better and better.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is a good staple Belgian-style golden ale... has typically peppery and bubblegum Belgian yeast flavors with a very light sweetness and pale malt flavor. Great, particularly for the price, but nothing mind blowing.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
750mL bottle, excessively hard to open! Again, the price point on this beer is excellent for the quality. It pours a cloudy wheaty yellow with a medium head. Taste notes are sour-sweet on the nose, and bitter at the end--somewhat herbal and spicy, with lots of citrus fruit as well. Quality beer, although I wouldn’t call it "strong ale"--it’s much closer to a tripel.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Props first for the price point, of course. Pours a nice fizzy golden. Super Bubble bubble gum at first, and then some crazy Unibroue yeast and lastly some hops and dough. Almost the reverse order of aroma/flavors I’d prioritize, but still a solid beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Quasi-wit like aroma of citrus, pear and spice/ Opaque yellow, half finger of head. Sugary sweet and drying sour flavors that mark a beer filled with yeast and esters. Crisp and biting. A bit like the Eau Benite, more effervescent and dryer, like a light Don de Dieu.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: MAY 23, 2013 Bottle from TJ’s. The cork made almost no noise when popped, not a good sign. Slightly hazy bright straw gold colored brew with a large lightly yellow tinted head. The funky pear nose has notes of hay and cinnamon. There is also more stonefruit smell, like plums. The body is thin and almost flat feeling in the mouth. The flavors are sweet pears, but that is light. A doughy finish with a little cinnamon and black pepper spice. Surprisingly thin feeling. Boring and uninspired, even at a low price. A bit of a dissapointment.
