Very good example of a Belgian Golden ale. Initially pours with a large head, but then settles down. Easy drinking with a lot of orange and spice nose.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 JDBaker11058 (922) - Maryland, USA - JAN 8, 2013
Appearance: cloudy, buttery gold with a huge, dense-yet-fluffy white head grudgingly shrinking, with active carbonation jets; poured into a tulip. Aroma: yeasty/spicy, with notes of champagne, white grapes, coriander, orange zest, banana bread, clove, and ginger. Taste: as the aroma indicates, but with some ritz-crackery malt threading solidly beneath the rest. Finish: tingly and spritzy with carbonation, leaving a bit of sweet and yeasty flavors behind. Notes: Fantastic, as you’d expect from Unibroue. Tastes very similar to their Eau Bénite (suspiciously so). Listen, you can get a 750ml bottle of Unibroue for $15.99, or get it for $5.99 at Trader Joe’s. That’s smart shopping with a delicious upside, because this beer is a winner.

Really great beer! Both Trader Joes big bottles by Unibrue(sp?) are great. This is one of the best golden ales I've had; and it's a steal for the price.

750 ml.... 5.99- Trader Joe’s Wow... I’m the first to put this one in? Pours a nice, slightly hazy hue, with a fading, frothy white head. Aromas of hay, straw, a touch of ginger and a little cardamom. Some grass notes and spruce arise as it warms. Mouth feel is light to medium bodied, depending on the temperature. Flavors of the same as the aroma. All intact. A mild sweetness that fades with the bitterness as I swallow. Semi dry and has that wheat ale flavor from La Fin Du Monde. The spices aren’t as dominating as the vintage ale from Tj’s as most of the flavors of spice I feel come from the yeast used. This is supposedly a Trader Joe exclusive recipe. Very nice.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 beerbastard (499) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - APR 21, 2013
750 bottle, cloudy pale white, lite lacing around the glass. Bought these around Chirstmas time at Trader Joes. Such a great deal! Fruity nose of pears and apples with sweet spices. Clean harmonious mix of flavors, sweet fruits and spices countered by a dry hop. Very enjoyable.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 badlizard (5158) - Berkeley, California, USA - JAN 12, 2013
Bottle from TJ Berkeley. I love it when i can get a bottle of Unibroue for under $6. Dark yellow with a foamy white head. Grainy Belgian yeast, pear, banana, and apple aroma and taste with a sweet spice malty finish and a full bodied creamy palate.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 rayOfBeer (545) - El Cerrito, California, USA - DEC 21, 2012
Bottle: slight haze on a light-yellow pour with large frothy white head. Aroma is yeasty spice, a touch of honey and a light lemon zest. Flavor is sweet with honey then spicy/tangy with yeast, lemon zest, corriander and a little green apple. Very nice flavors, on the sweeter side but well balanced with spicy notes that would probably get better with a little cellaring. I will be drinking more.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 DalzAle (1736) - Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA - FEB 10, 2013
Bottle. Clear dark yellow pour, small ring of carbonation and an aroma of spice and a little lemon zest. Flavor has just enough malt to balance out some nice hints of hops, lemon juice a little banana. A steal @ $6 for a 750.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 bhensonb (8991) - Woodland, California, USA - JAN 14, 2013
Bottle from Trader Joe’s in Davis, CA. Pours hazy gold with a foamy 3 finger white head. Aromas of pineapple, banana and ginger. Med body. Flavor starts a little earthy. For me the flavor is banana hints, ginger hints, pineapple - primarily because it hits my tongue as a bit acid? And that pleasant fruity, spicy earthiness persists into the finish. Very tasty.
