Sweet lager aroma. Rich amber color with a small off white head. Flavor starts sweet with light caramel, a little grain and a tangy hop finish. Smooth creamy palate. I liked this one better than the hefe.

I picked up a six-pack for $4.99 @ Trader Joe’s in Santa Cruz, CA. 09.13 batch I consumed 09.30. Good looking amber with excellent lacing, fair malt aroma, an overall easy drinking, crisp, Vienna lager. If you shop at Trader Joe’s like I do you’d expect nothing else but a good value, quality product offered at their stores. TJ’s Vienna Lager was just that, totally worth the price and went well with stinky chesse I bought along with it.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow & tupalev -- courtesy of GregClow. This is the third Trader Joe’s beer in a row that we tried and I did not like the other two so I was not expecting much. This one was pleasantly better. Pours a clear amber with a small white head. Like the other Trader Joe’s beers the aroma is too sweet, like sugary malt, but it’s a little more balanced here. Flavour of caramel malt with a bitter aftertaste. My favourite of the Trader Joe’s beers but still not a personal favourite.

Shared with blankboy, GregClow and Hogtown Harry, bottle courtesy of GregClow. Light brown, very small tan head. Hardly any aroma either - maybe slight hint of sweet caramel malt. Watery thin mouthfeel. There is some taste though, the expected hint of sweetness that can be found in this style. There are even a few hops at the end. Best of the 3 Trader Joe’s so far

Bottle from Trader Joe’s, San Diego - shared with blankboy, HogTownHarry and tupalev. After the Bohemian and Hofbrau, I wasn’t expecting much from this one, but it was a bit of a step up on all fronts. Nice bright copper-amber colour with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet, but fresher than the other two, with some appealing maltiness. Flavour is a little roasty, with notes of caramel and honey. Finish is mildly bittered. As DarkElf notes below, this is quite one-dimensional, but as a simple session beer, it’s not too bad.

(12 oz bottle: Trader Joe’s in Pacific Beach, CA) Hey, whadya know, another decent Trader Joe’s beer! Malty, caramely, and moderately sweet, both in the flavor and nose, with a bit of vanilla adding to the flavor, and minimal bitterness getting in the way. Smooth and creamy on the palate, medium bodied, easy to drink, no rough edges. The clear body is a rich amber color, and it’s topped by a light-tan head initially, though that head does fade to a small ring too quickly. In the end, it’s a pretty one-dimensional beer, but it gets the job done, and the price is most definitely right! Good session beer for my tastes.

Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy, GregClow and Tupalev, bottle courtesy of GregCllow. Poured clear amber-yellow with a minimal white head. Aroma is grain, honey, some resiny mild roast malt; ehh. Tastes somewhat of roast malt, lots of grain and hops - not too harsh, a wee bit of alcohol in the average finish. Pretty standard mouthfeel, overall okay, but needs a bit more roast maltiness.

This is a commerical beer made to mass production and low costs and the taset was there. Skunky smell no hops had a rich malt base had a metallic type tatse. Good head and a dark copper color. Like the sharp initial taste but it does nto stay with you at all. Very overpowering malt flavor. Too roasty to style and not enough hops. (Nobel Hops)

Cost $0.92/bottle at Trader Joe’s. Pours a clear, light amber/copper from the bottle. Small amount of off-white head that lingers disguised as a sheet. There is almost no fizz to this beer, I’d almost think it was wine. Aroma is slightly fruity, but not citrus. Grainy too. Problem is, I had to agitate the beer in order to generate any aroma. Otherwise, there wasn’t much. The flavor begins with hop bitterness, sharpness followed by mellow malt. This beer is on the watery side, but not totally thin. Only a wash of carbonation as I swallowed, followed by a wet aftertaste. A drinkable beer, in that I didn’t rush to dump it. However, there isn’t much appealing that would make me come back for more.

Well, this one was just ok. Pured a coppery-amber, very clear, but also a little too bubbly for my tastes. Not much aroma, a little skunk. Kinda sweet, kinda bitter, nothing really exciting as far as I can tell. Tastes a little worse as it sits longer and warms up. Drink it fast and cold in a pinch.
