Pours a transparent copper amber with a thin coating of wispy white head. Sweet authentic toasty Vienna malty aroma has some German lager yeast character. Starts with a mild light caramel sweetness along with some slightly earthy noble hops and a drier crisp finish. Fairly true to style, but rather boring.

12 oz. bottle. JosephsBrau label. Gift from a neighbor. Thanks, Sid! Pours a clear tea-orange with a finger of off-white head that settles unevenly. Aroma of sweet and toasted malts, crackers, husky grains, and brown sugar. Flavor is pretty much the same. Some bitterness. Light-bodied, with crisp carbonation and a toasty, crisp mouthfeel. Not bad.

12 ounce bottle from TJs. Pours a clear dark copper color with a small white head. A sweet light fruity nose. Toast, caramel, light Pils malt. Smooth and drinkable. Light toast, berries, big sweet malty caramel. OK.

Fiancee’s mom picked this up for me randomly while traveling in Chicago and I didn’t take good notes.

Had as JosephBrau Vienna .. . tan amber .. mild head, pretty nice lacing .. . tin molasses and horse maple hay .. . light distracting mouthfeel .. . has a mild annoying back taste to it but other than that, decent for a vienna .. . . remember, when passing a running chainsaw to your buddy- the knife rule doesn’t apply...

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow & tupalev -- courtesy of GregClow. This is the third Trader Joe’s beer in a row that we tried and I did not like the other two so I was not expecting much. This one was pleasantly better. Pours a clear amber with a small white head. Like the other Trader Joe’s beers the aroma is too sweet, like sugary malt, but it’s a little more balanced here. Flavour of caramel malt with a bitter aftertaste. My favourite of the Trader Joe’s beers but still not a personal favourite.

"i could skip this one. it IS smooth, but that’s because there’s not a whole lot going on flavor-wise, which makes it an easy to drink beer, but nothing more."

Bottle pours light amber, tinted orange, medium off-white fizzly head, spotty lacing, with very light carbonation.   Subtle aroma of cereal and oats, but also somewhat malty.   Fairly decent malt palate, slightly sweet.   Cant help but notice the emergence of a grainy/corny aroma as it warms a bit.   Body and mouthfeel seem fairly average.   At least not bad for a Trader Joe brew.   Malty finish, but also somewhat light and quick.   Fairly clean however.   Not an Eliot Ness, but not bad.

Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy, GregClow and Tupalev, bottle courtesy of GregCllow. Poured clear amber-yellow with a minimal white head. Aroma is grain, honey, some resiny mild roast malt; ehh. Tastes somewhat of roast malt, lots of grain and hops - not too harsh, a wee bit of alcohol in the average finish. Pretty standard mouthfeel, overall okay, but needs a bit more roast maltiness.

Bottle, obviously. Poured an actually nice shiny orange amber with a tanish head. The aroma is oddly smoky, but not like a rauchbier, but like a smoky cheese. That same essence is in the flavor ... wow, this literally tastes like smoke cheese. There’s a bit of sweet twist on top, but I can’t get past that impression. Quite odd. (#3039, 7/27/2007)
