MrBunn (889), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 22, 2007 Bottle. Ahh, the ever obnoxious Unibroue pour... seven inches of foamy fluff with just the slightest hint of a brownish liquid at the bottom of the glass. After a while things start to die down and a deep, dark brown body establishes itself under the massive head. Aromas are of medium/dark malt, bread, wet cardboard. Flavor is sweeter than I expected and mouthfeel is much more syrupy than all that carbonation seemed to indicate earlier. Really not that intriguing.
Mette (145), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 2, 2008 Tak til Sune for denne øl til klubben. Næsten sort med hvidt skum. Søde frugter, maltbolcher, let gær, kirsebær, rosmarin, nåletræ, lakrids, anis(eller anus, som vi fik det døbt) sunevdj (1469), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Oct 1, 2008 Bottle recieved in a trave with drewbeerme THX! Enjoyed at the Shorts tasting with The Club and then some. Pours a clear dark brown with a diminishing white head. Sweet with some dryness. Belgian yeast. Hints of spruce and spice. Also some cherry aromas. Medium body. High carbonation. A good example of a Belgian double. Theis (2208), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 30, 2008 Bottle at home - thanks to Sune. Almost black - white head. Cherry, berries, fruity, rosemary, pine needles, spicy, sweetness, licorice, anis. Clearly belgian style - very nice !!! kyzr (959), Belgrade, Montana, USA Sep 6, 2008 Dark pour with nice sized brown head. A lot of dried fruit on the nose. Flavor has raisins, a little fig and rather sweet. Good body with a ton of carbination, yet nice texture. Just a little too sweet for me. mgermani (616), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Aug 11, 2008 Pours a pitch black with a loose-bubbled tan head with poor retention, which reduces to a small ring of foam with some lacing. Aroma is fig and blackcurrant - very inviting! Tastes as expected, lots of blackcurrant in this with some fig & raisins. Very smooth with a lingering mild aftertaste. Delicate but sufficient carbonation, lightly creamy body. Better than trois pistoles, in my opinion. I really like this one - pity it’s not available in the country it’s brewed in!
