Brown pour with frothy tan head. Brown sugar and a bito funk like dried paper. Sweet malt but the same funky spice flavor as before. Medium bodied and fizzy.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This bottled brew from a rating party poured a extremely small sized head of brown colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a hazy ruby red brown colored body and a oily lacing. The mild aroma was brown malt. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of brown malt. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.

750mL bottle. Poured medium brown with a well-formed khaki head. The aroma picked up lots of black pepper, rye, and clove spicage over molasses and a touch of maple.. very yeasty, but enjoyable. The flavor found prickly carbonation and cloves on the tip of the tongue, with warm molasses, caramel, and maple following.. peppery red notes and tart, red vinous character around.. finished with tight carbonation and lots of spice, with banana and molasses coming back after the swallow. Medium-bodied and well-carbonated on the palate.. spicy, yeasty, and engaging.. a bit too much carbonation for my liking.. overall a very good drinker.

Bottle from Trader Joe’s in Alexandria, Virginia. Served in a cervoise. Pours a very dark brown. Nose has cardamom, dark fruit dc and roast. Flavor is cardamom and spice. A bit earthy. Creamy body. Too much spice through the finish.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2013 Lime, cola, and floral aromas. Dark red-brown with a mostly fading, khaki head. Dry, herbal, funky, earthy, and citrusy. Medium bodied, carbonation is moderate with an earthy spice, and finishes with flavors of herbs and lime peel.

750 ml bottle opened by a friend- thanks, Peter! I have the rest of this vertical at home, somehow. Pours a deep amber color with some reddish-brown highlights and an initially lively off-white head that settles quickly. Hard color to describe. The aroma really takes a while to emerge, but is loaded with rich caramel malts and spices- clove, ginger, allspice. Some dried fruits, too. The flavor is a richer version of the same; big caramel malts, toffee, cookies, spices, plums, dried berries, and figs. Medium-bodied, with a smooth, spicy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. A little warmth. Would be good in a couple years, too. These beers are one of the best values out there every single year. Kudos to Unibroue and Trader Joe’s.

My first taste of this brew of any vintage. Another solid one form Unibroue. Dark fruits, deep malts, medium yeast.
