COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unique and limited edition, this Belgian style ale is crafted once a year as a special treat for those of you who appreciate flavorful, bottle-conditioned ale with character. This year’s vintage: a rich, dark and full-bodied ale with a fine and generous coffee-colored, beige foam. It’s ready to enjoy right away and you may also wish to cellar a few bottles. It will evolve interestingly well, developing more complex flavors as the years go by.

Very legit beer--Trader Joe’s probably gets the best BUL beers that anyone puts under their own labels. This is a dark brown with a soft complexion and a good blend of caramel, candi sugar, and general Belgian qualities. Somewhat generic, as others have noted, but very drinkable. Bottle.

A pretty standard Belgian strong from Unibroue. Sweet, a bit chewy. A lot of Unibroues beers are starting to taste the same to me.

Good offering. Pours good and dark with a nice little aroma. Nice Belgian especially more than I was suspecting.

Bottle from TJs. Dark brown with a fluffy off white head. Huge musty and earthy aroma of spice, molasses, caramel, and chocolate. Bright lively palate. Tastes of dark fruit, berries, caramel, vanilla, and sweet spice.

Bottle. Dark mahogany beer with a light brown head. Yeast and caramel/toffee aroma with light fruitiness. Yeast and spice flavor with caramel/toffee. Medium bodied. Spice and yeast lingers with caramel/toffee and light fruitiness.

It’s cool that Trader Joe’s still does this. The best value in beer. Pours a nice rich brown color with thick creamy beige head. Aroma of spice, belgian yeasts, esters, coriander, caramel and chocolate notes. Flavor is spice dominated, with some strong ester notes and caramel and brown sugar. Full bodied, nice carbonation. Overall, finishes with a touch of booze and sweet belgian yeast and caramel notes. Solid from Trader Joe’s/ Unibroue.

$5! Come on! This is the best value in beer. Taste like a standard Dsrk Belgian ale, a little chalky and thin but great overall

Bottle; poured a dark cola brown with a huge tan head. Aroma of their yeast, dark fruit, herbs, spice, hint of caramel and booze. A bit flat in favor at first. Some sweetness, but largely dry. Caramel, yeast and dark fruit. As these beers go this year was a bit off.

Pours dark brown with a foamy tan head. Sweet, yeasty, spicy, fruity aroma. Sweet malty flavor. Dark dried fruits like prunes and raisins. Spicy yeasty finish. Really liked. Now I will have to look for this every year.
