deep brown body with a nice garnet hue when held to light. This is topped with a thin off white head. The nose has caramel as well as hints of pecans. There is also iced tea, similar to a dunkel. The first taste is sweet with caramel and a little bit of dough. There is also some hint of pecans and black tea in the finish. This is actually tasty and decent.

Trader José Dark Lager is a very clear, coppery brown beer with a thin, bubbly, off white head that fades to a film and leaves nice lacing. It has a roasty, toasty aroma that’s pretty chocolatey. It’s light bodied and a bit watery. It’s pretty smooth and the finish is pretty dry. The mellow flavor is chocolatey with a little green bitterness at the finish. It’s smooth and mellow.

Trader Joe’s, DC single 11.2oz: Pours a light brown with a quickly dissipating tan head. Aroma is the low point and it smells pretty much like any macro lager. However, the taste is full of bready, roasted malts with sufficient character. There are some cocoa notes in there as well. Slightly bitter hops that leave a mild aftertaste. Good value, and a pretty good beer, although something is screwy with the aroma.

Good for the style and overall better than expected. This had more bready malts than I anticipated for the "Imported from Mexico" Dark Lager style. Similar to a malty Oktoberfest brew.

Surprised by the low scores for this one. If it’s a Trader Joe’s brand brew, one can’t expect to be blown away. Considering the price,$6 for a 6 pack, I thought this was a decent brew. Pours a translucent brown, with a foamy, off white head. Aroma of roasted malt, with hints of sweetness and a touch nutty. Taste reflects characteristics of caramel and malt. A touch sweet. Similar complex of a brown ale, but with a lighter body. Fizzy on the palate with a rather light finish. Great value beer. No complaints

Not bad. A generic darker beer with a light body. Roasted malts predominate the flavor with hints of caramel.

Clear brown color/ fleeting ivory head. Lagered, dry medium roast malt aromas. smooth medium body. Dry roasted malt, mild chocolate, cheap coffee flavors- forgettable.

Bottle. Pouts dark brown/amber with a bit of tan head. Aroma is very faint, a bit of roasty malt and a light caramel note. Light bodied, very little in the way of taste, bit of malt. Pretty bland but not offensive.

12oz bottle from Trader Joe’s. Pours a clear, darker amber-copper colored body with an inch thick, dense and foamy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is pretty basic with mostly a lightly sweetened caramel and a bit grainy. Flavor is similar. Lightly sweetened, grainy caramels with a few fruity esters and a light grass that dries this and leaves a light bitterness. Medium length aftertaste following a medium, smooth body and crisp, moderately fizzy carbonation. Overall, an easy drinking lager. Not very exciting, but not offensive.
