UPDATED: MAY 7, 2011 Rating from outta the bottle with a lime in it while smoking a cigarette on the porch. If you don’t like that, you can (a) fuck off or (b) fuck off. Now that there’s a lime in it, it smells like lime..or trix, the "lime" flavored ones..taste isn’t all that great though...I was hoping for a corona or sol w/ lime flavor but this doesn’t have that underlying "mexican" flavor that seems to combine well in the aforementioned beers. Cheap enough I suppose at less than $5 foor a 6er, but maybe not, depending on the price of limes and salt.

I found this to be considerably better than the light. A bit of actual body and certainly no fruit notes. Not too bad.

Skunky aroma. Light body with a weird fruity taste at the finish. Overall I did not enjoy this beer.

Crystal clear fizzy yellow lager. Typical aroma for this style of light cereal grains. Corn and more light cereal taste with a decent grassy, light citrus hop balance. Went well with my spicy tuna sushi. Really not bad especially for 89 cents (including CRV). One thing to be aware of (like many of these types of beers) is that it’s in a clear bottle and therefore subject to possible skunking (which luckily mine didn’t seem to suffer from), so it’s very possible to get a really nasty one and then think this sucks across the board.

Someone brought a 6-pack of this to a party and I figured I’d tick it. Pours a boring pale yellow color with a fizzy white head. FYB all the way with this one. The aroma is crappy grainy adjunk. Is there actually malt in this beer? It smells like corn and chemicals. The flavor is really bland yet really disgusting at the same time. The crappiness is off the charts. Corn, rice, grass, and water. Some unpleasant bitterness on the finish. The palate is bland and boring, with a watery feel and higher carbonation. I know, giving an adjunct lager a low rating reeks of style bias, but this is an absolute disgrace to beer. I couldn’t bear to drink more than 2 ounces of a beer in a style that’s supposed to excel in drinkability. Epic fail.

Bottle. Simple boring pale lager. More flavor than the macros, but certainly not an outgoing approach to the style, if there is such a thing.

12 oz bottle PPRBSG 2010. Pours a very light golden thinning head. Aroma is acetaldehyde mostly with some light dms, corn sugar, toast, paper notes, oxidation. Flavor is mineral, oxidized malts, light skunk, apple cider, acetaldehyde and a thin watery finish. Meh.

Powertrip (999) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 10, 2010
Single bottle from a Trader Joes in San Diego. Colour: Basic yellow with a touch of orange. Nose: wet dog, white vinegar, roasted corn. Taste: Some initial well balanced grains with a very low level but well inputed hint of caramel. Remains consistent till late mouth then completely falls flat and disappears, only to remerge as pure cardboard about a mintue after the finish.

Pailhead (3884) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - AUG 20, 2010
Bottle: The aroma is light-moderately skunky with some light mustiness and grass. It pours a transparent gold with a small soapy white head that leaves behind some decent webbing for lacing. The flavor starts lightly sweet with some faint honey notes. The finish has just a touch of grassy bitterness. Light bodied with mild carbonation. It’s better than most BMC products.

Bottle. Pours a clear, yellow gold with a mild, white head. Grainy malt aroma with some corn. Flavor is sweet with more corn and some surprising booze notes. Light to medium in body with average carbonation. Finishes sweet with almost no hops and lingering malts. Nothing special but drinkable.
