A wolf in sheep’s clothing, this smoky stout has a silky touch that belies its rich lingering taste.

Dark liquid. Thin light brown foam. Strong charcoal malt scent. A bit thin. Trace of tin noted in nose. Kind of disappointing.

Pours an opaque black with a brown head. Rich coffee aroma with a hint of hops. Taste is a rich coffee malt but with a very mild finish.

Looks good. Not so great on the nose. Malty, liquorice, dark chocolate, cloves, smokey. Could have been really good but a bit thin and lacking depth to be truly great. Shame.

Bottle. Cofee, dark chocolate, dark small head. Sweet, full taste, light sour. Malty chocolate aftertaste, not as dry as other stouts. Great

Bottle at home. Almost black with a thin beige head, Aroma is roasted malts. Flavour is sweet chocolate, roasted malts, little fruit. Just lacked depth, character, knackers, a hat I don’t know. Not mysterious and compelling enough.

Appearance: Dark brown/black with finger thick ivory/tan head. Aroma: Banana, bubblegum, chocolate note, oaty, butterscotch, floral and bread crust. Taste: Low/medium bitter and sweetness with low sourness. Palate: Thick grainy texture, light body, low/average carbonation, abrupt bitter, smoky, earthy, roasted/burnt malt light chocolate finish with bubblegum and banana in the mix. Comments: Tasty, but head was quick to disappear.

500ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a very small beige head, which fades quickly and without leaving any lacing. Black coffee, mild liquorice and a little butterscotch make up the aroma. Mild lemon hops up front lead into black coffee and mild liquorice in the mid-palate. There is a faint hint of cocoa in the finish. This is a fairly missable stout, although to be fair to it, my bottle was a little past its BBD.
