4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Sigmund (4280) - Tau, NORWAY - SEP 29, 2004
Cask at the Ipswich Beer Festival 2004, gravity dispense. Colour is black / dark ruby. Lovely aroma of dark fruits / prunes, English pipe tobacco, chocolate and coffee. Flavour is roast barley and oats on a surprisingly fruity background. Very drinkable. Fruity aftertaste - not what you expect from a stout, but nice! (And the beer is vegan - as if I cared!)
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DanielBrown (3220) - Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, ENGLAND - JUL 9, 2004
Hand pulled at the Anchor, Birmingham as part of their organic beer weekend. Jet black, with a great looking sloppy and sticky beige head. Very creamy - like the coffee creams you used to get in Milk Tray. Light feeling, with a burnt oats flavour, which is fairly insistent. Reminds me of Angel Delight...
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Mungo (2472) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - MAY 5, 2004
Cask conditioned @ Reading Beer Festival. Powerful chocolate roasty arom, malt and raisings. Slightly cloying body with some acidity and a touch thin. Promise of rich roasty pleasures disappears in the body but very drinkable.
