500ml bottle @Lake Ness Tourist Shop. 2006. Malty aromas. Pours hazy light amber, short vanishing head, poor lacing. Medium to light body, soft carbonation. Taste is malty, some toffee, mild and smooth bitterness, some roasted notes. Sweet aftertaste.

tombyars (1204) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 11, 2011
Tasted this in the Saltcot, Saltcoats (JDW) in July 2008. Cask, handpump dispense. Pale copper red in colour with a tight creamy buff white head. Barley grain short in the aroma. Good thin creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt gives burnt grain note in the mouth, with a digestive malt base with fruit notes of raisins and plums. Nutty aftertaste with no trace of hop resins evident. Smooth malty finish. A really decent strong Scottish export this and well recommended.

Bottle. Dark brownish beer witha reddish tinge. The aroma is very sour, lightly smoked, and slightly spiced, and the flavour is sour, bitter and sweetish smoked. Overall a slightly disappointing beer.

Pretty much a bog standard bitter. this was labelled as Stirling ale, I’m sure it was bought in Tesco, doesn’t really matter I don’t think I’d have bought it again.

Bottled 50cl. It pours a beautiful dark ruby beer with a small tanned head. The nose is nicely smoky with hints of raisins and honey. Nicely balanced. Raisins, honey, licorice allsorts and heather in the taste which are accompanied by a great smokiness. Sweet. Outstanding full finish with hints of dark chocolate, licorice and heather. Excellent.

(Bottle 50 cl) Comes as: "Wallace Monument Traditional 80/- Ale". Slightly hazy amber golden with an off-white head. Somewhat unclean malt aroma. Light-bodied with some tartness and some earthy notes, sort of like elder flower. Distinctly smoked accents and a bitter finish. Odd to have a Bitter with peat smoke being the dominant flavour. More like a Scottish Ale really? 170107
