Amber copper, clear, thin white head
Aroma of light caramel, little on the nose
Taste of caramel malt, some hay, light fruits, touch of metallic bitterness, not clean, touch vegetal, not great at all
Palate - thinnish body, little oily. Finish as main flavour, dull, bit dry, some light yeasty hay in the finish
Overall - 80/- are supposed to be nice and malty. This was just meh meh meh...didn’t finish the half
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Graham77 (86) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - MAR 10, 2013
500ml bottle. Lovely reddish brown colour with an off white head. The aroma is sweet predominantly and this follows on the palate with a toffee/fudge like flavour. The sweetness is well balanced by bittering hops such that it doesnt overly dominate. A fine example of an 80/-.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BlackHaddock (2350) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAR 1, 2013
Finally breeched the Aldi bought 500ml bottle: best before Jun 2013, it was shared with a friend on 15 Feb 2013 during a random tasting evening at home.
Mid-brown, bordering on amber in colour: a thin white head sat on each half-pint glass.
Malts first and foremost: sweet molasses taking over the smell and taste. Caramel and butterscotch notes make this one sweet beer. The hops can’t hold the malty strengths and although this isn’t sickly in any way: it certainly isn’t a hoppy brew, nutty notes and hints of wood about, but mostly malts.
A little unbalanced: but I like sweet malty brews, so it was OK with me.

Moderately sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Cara-malt upfront with notes of butter and a tinge of apricots; moderately dry and a tad slim finish with cara-malt and delicately fruity hops. Easy-going Ale. 03.II.13
