sstackho (242), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 14, 2004 Updated: Feb 10, 2007RE-RATE: I realized that my past fondness for this beer was what drove me to post perhaps my first RB review. But I could not in good faith leave this review as is.
I think they must have changed this beer since 2004. It was no longer the muddy, cloudy brown mess that it was previously, and the interesting taste seemed to be gone. It was much blander and more boring than I remembered.
Original review:
This beer is wonderfully different and I grew addicted to it during its tenure at C’est What. Now that it has been taken away, I am a lost soul.
I do not have much experience with this type of brew, so I’m not sure how to properly describe it. But that someone would say that it has little aroma is surprising.
Then again, I was the only one of my C’est What group who was particularly fond of this beer, so I suppose this beer isn’t for everyone.
It is available for purchase in bottles at the Trafalgar brewery in Oakville, but I did not find it as enjoyable from the bottle as I did on draft.

I tried this beer on December 22, 2007 after purchasing from my local LCBO outlet. The beer pours a brownish black with a small head that disappears quickly. The odour is that of roasted malts with some spices such as clove. The mouthfeel is creamy, medium bodied, somewhat dry, and very little carbonation. The flavour is more of the malt and spices that come through in the aroma. mr_kimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 11, 2002 this beer is difficult to rate, as I really enjoyed it, but it seemed very far from a belgian ale. the beer is hazy dark ruby with a medium off white head. fruity aroma. some very nice berry-ish notes, being predominately whole cherry(pits and all). slightly earthy bitter finish. seemed like a bit more of english than belgian, but it was very tasty and anyone who has a chance should try it. Beer Snob (348), Ontario, Canada Jan 17, 2008 Middle brown with no head to speak of, a hint of clove in the aroma. Fairly sweet, but ends up with a aice sourness that lingers gently.
Maybe not a classic dubbel, but very enjoyable. mustang3 (254), Whitby, Canada Jul 29, 2004 The beer pours a dark mahogany colour, but I couldn’t smell much. I thought this was pretty good, but one dimensional. That dimension was sweet with lots of plum and brown sugar.
