   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 2/5   TASTE 4/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 9/20
gilvanblight (801) - Windsor, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 25, 2013
Very dark yet clear pour. Lotes of bubbly head that seems like it wants to cling but can’t quite pull it off. Smells like a porter. Coffee, malts, caramel, smokey, all those good things. Wow how odd. The taste doesn’t match that at all. This beer is confused. Did they spend months perfecting the perfect ’porter scent’ while ignoring most of the taste. There’s this taste there that’s not good that takes over. At first you get that smokiness, and a touch of burnt caramel. Then that taste. Based on past experience I think that’s the Trafalgar taste. Something someone that works there must like but I’m not a fan of. Based on the look of this I expected more. Not so great though. I would skip it giving another chance, it did smell good though.

Radek Kliber (6519) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - JAN 25, 2013
Aroma: coffee , dry roast , slight woody notes , hint of licorice decently rounded.
Look: hazed dark brown with lighter beige top. 3+
Taste/Palate: medium bodied , softer feel. Touch of ash , woody feel , slight nutty elements. Cognac feel is there , balanced that is part of base beer. Good.

Bendrixian (1170) - Canadiana, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 21, 2013
Light brown and clear colour, Roast, sweet corn and muted aroma with aonly a hint of something woodsy. Light styled ale with a small hint of roast and some stewed fruit but overall really disappointing and slightly over priced.

[bottle at BJCP study session] Faintly oaky vanilla aroma with some butterscotch and chocolate and sour, fruity hops. Clear, ruby-black under tan wisps and a ring. Chocolate flavour fades quicly to mineral water and sour hops. Low bitterness. Clean finish, thin, moderate to medium carbonation.

Lanchester (185) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 3, 2013
Pours dark with deep ruby highlights, topped with a thin, foamy head that quickly vanishes. Light roasted note in the aroma, along with hints of wood, vanilla and coconut...not very pronounced. Light maltiness up front on the flavor carries into subtle sweet toffee and vanilla notes, finishes a tad on the bitter side. Too watery and thin on the palate, flavor profile seems diluted. Not a bad brew overall, just not that memorable in comparison to other examples of the style.

[4969-20121123] Ceramic bottle. Smoky wood aroma has a strange poopy note. Clear, dark amber body with medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Smoked toasted grainy malt flavour. Medium body. Tasty and enjoyable, which is surprising. (6/4/7+/3/15) 3.5

Spab (2563) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 16, 2012
500 ml ceramic bottle from LCBO. Pours a rubyish dark brown with small tan head. Aroma is toffee, light roast, vanilla and fruit. Flavour is roasty toffee, fruit and a bit of vanilla. On the bland side. A little flat and body is on the thin side. Not the worst Trafalgar product but nothing special.

2012-11-23. Black body with a small tan head. 3+ Dry dusty roast, modest alcohol. Very dry flavour, dusty roast, odd, strangely earthy quality to the roast. Average bodied palate is thin for a porter. It is actually much better than expected, but it was very much not to my own tastes today. Bottle shared by Tupalev

Tessic (906) - Brantford, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 9, 2012
This porter poured a deep amber colour with a soapy head. To the nose there are scents of brandy, rum, cocoa and caramel. First sip was thin and a little watery with flavours of coffee, brandy, caramel and roast. Finish is roasty with light flavours of brandy and a little smoke. Slightly bitter palate.

500ml crown topped ceramic swing top bottle: Nice looking bottle but what you get is a thin porter with a "Little bit of" - grape skin and oak, coffee, roast grains, vanilla and astringent hops - very little. At least there are no off tastes. Oh why oh why do I fall for this tarted up Trafalgar mediocrity every time!!! For 9 bucks you get a 1 dollar porter in a 6 dollar bottle - Trafalgar ripped off the other 2 bucks. Actually it’s not bad just needs a richer porter, longer in the barrel and a massive price slash.
