[1376-20080523] Tap. Fresh apple malt aroma with toasted grains. Hazy, dark brown amber body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Malty fresh fruit base flavour has a nutty grainy background and notes of chocolate. Medium body has a bit of a sour tang. Interesting, quite good, repeatable.

Draught sample at C’est What Spring 2008 Festival of Small Breweries. Clear reddish-amber with a small head. Aroma is mild, slightly spicy, with some malt notes. Medium mouthfeel. Flavour is pleasant and surprisingly warm for 4%, with notes of toasted grain and spice. The flavour lingers a bit, making it more appealing with each sip.

Draught at C’est What. Pours a clear deep amber with a small semi-lasting creamy off-white head. Mild sweet aroma of caramel malt, grain and wheat. Flavour’s grainy with very light hops, some toastyness and a light bitter finish. Average bodied. Not much going on here, it’s just alright.

Medium-dark mahogany, flat, bit of an oily head. Skunky rye scents and a wheaty, sour, burnt flavour. Dull, but okay.

Draught. At C’est What. This is a pretty fine offering. Murky light brick red with a decent creamy off-white head. Aroma of dry cocoa and mild fruit, quite sweet and herbal. The taste follows, a nice balance between roast grain, herbal bitterness and sweet yeast. Average body, dry and grainy, with a little spicy bitterness in the finish. Solid.

On tap at C’est What. Grainy wheat. A good dark colour with a little white head and some lace. Mouthpuckering sour, a bit below average mouthfeel wiich is not what I would expect from the style. Not all that enjoyable.

2008-05-23. Dark amber brown body with a modest tan head. (3+) Sweetish aroma, light sweet grains, touches of caramel and wheat. (6+) Similar flavour with light bitterness in the finish rounding out the sweeter caramel malt notes. (6+) Average plus palate. Mildly flavoured, but pleasant. On tap at C’est What

Aroma is wheat and roasted malt, dark copper, wearing a slim toffee head, some lace. Flavour is mild wheat, good malt, alcohol is noted, odd for the abv? Light bodied, slight burn at the back of the throat, somewhat sweet. Average.
