piscator34 (886), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada May 29, 2007 Dark amber in colour with lower than average carbonation. Strong malty aroma with secondary notes of molasses and plums. Loads of rich malt flavors as you’d expect from a bock. Caramel and burnt toffee elements are apparent, along with some vineous character (a bit too fruity to be honest). There’s a bit of a sour note on the finish which seems somewhat out of place. Not without its charm, but still LOTS of room for improvement. robinvboyer (952), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Mar 2, 2007 wow, must have been a spoiler bottle, smelled sour and of olives...just plain awful, drain pour after about 3 gulps. JohnBarleycorn (370), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 3, 2006 Awesome appearance consists of a predominantly brown body with an alluring red infusion. Unfortunately, the none-existent head ruins the perfect first impression. Pounds of chocolate and crates of cocoa powder comprise the dominant aromas, plus a curious late sensation of nacho chips covered with
melted Monterey Jack cheese. Good, milky-smooth palate. The taste sensation
is like drinking a blended-up Black Forest cake: chocolate, cherry, icing
sugar, etc. Also like Black Forest cake, it’s great for dessert but too rich for a main course. Pop one open, sit back and enjoy.
Lubiere (3144), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Aug 20, 2006 Reddish dark brown ale with a dissipating off white head. Sweet vinous aroma with notes of oxidation (bottle is less than 3 months old). In mouthm lightly sour bock with sweet malt and yeasty notes. Light bodied. Disapointing beer. Trade with Hogtownharry. radiomgb (1710), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jul 21, 2006 Bottle from the <a
href=http://www.lcbo.com target=blank>LCBO in Peterborough. Deep ruby in colour, thin dissipating beige head, no lace. The aroma had some noticable light alcohol, some chocolate malts, slight sweetness, small roast. The flavour had notes of burnt caramel, chocolate, some butterscotch, light sweetness, earthy. Mildly bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes lingering, some sweetness. Not to bad.
