bu11zeye (3656), Frisco, Texas, USA Aug 20, 2007 (650ml bottle) Pours a murky reddish-brown body with a medium off-white head. Aroma of cola, mustiness, and sour. Flavor of sweet, some citrus, occasional burst of sweet tart sourness; tastes more like a Flemish sour, but I would have to say this is infected. Get no maple syrup upfront...but get after in warms up. Unbalanced; all over the place with the aroma and flavor. Radek Kliber (3309), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 8, 2007 Bottle 650ml
Poured muddy brown with inch thick tanned, rocky head. 3.75
Front accented by aromatic hops, refreshing hop character. Faint touch of sugars in background.
Clean aroma set up clearly contrasted with sour, harsh flavours. What happened to crisp hops? Maple syrup add-on shows its presence in the middle. Sadly malt base was visibly subdued here. If this brew aimed to be bock we need more, juicy malts to. Maple alone cannot do this .By the way this beer should be sweet not sour.Sorry but I think its time to be back to drawing board.
Lubiere (3250), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jun 17, 2007 In a nutshell, Trafalgar is becoming the Frères Houblons of Ontario....sour and infected...enough said. HogTownHarry (3200), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Mar 15, 2008 Bottle (650ml). Semi-gusher ... deep clear burnt copper, huge fluffy lasting beige head. Ergh ... dry, sour, lemon and paper aroma, there’s sweet roast under there somewhere, but it doesn’t make me want to drink it. Incredibly sour taste - swear to god, this is boozy lemon juice, not beer - gawd, screw this - these guys suck. Just avoid this crap. jerc (3114), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 4, 2007 Bottle from LCBO. Dark brown body, small tan head fades fast. Very muted malt aroma with a light hint of smoke. Flavour is caramelly malt, very mild maple character. Alcohol is basically non-existent in the flavour. Average to medium palate is smooth, but a touch under carbonated for my liking. Pleasant, but it is just generally too mild and muted. Would like to see them take it up a notch.
