Pours a sorry and sedated deep brown with red underlying hints. No head forms. Smoke is plentiful but so off-key it’s hilarious. Thanks for the liquid meat, stale style. Sesame and trickling molasses send this far into a downward spiral. One upside: the roasted malt profile is adequate, pretty nice and lingering. The flavor is not awful, but the finish is, without any shadow of a doubt. roastedmalts and smoke share the playbill at first but slowly give way to rancid meat and more sesame and soy notes. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, slick and modestly carbonated. Awful.

Pours an almost black brown. Aroma reminds me of bad fried rice with way to much sesame oil. The flavor starts off decent but finishes horrible. This is simply not good

In short: Despicable rotten and meaty mess.
How: Small party-planning tasting session. Bottle from “my friend” Taktik MTL
The look: Dark brown body with a small beige head
In long: Nose is scary. Rotten sourness and various decaying organic products. Really not much smoke in there. Really not much roastiness either. Taste is ferrous and rather meaty (cheap red steak). Fruity notes of grapes and prunes but mostly unfocussed rotten fruits. Undesired sourness and acidity. A bit watery. I trust a beer from Trafalgar like I would trust a plastic surgeon with an office decorated with Picasso portraits.

No head. No lace. Nose of fast food brewed coffee. A little sour off-notes. Thin, no depth. Weird.

Murky dark brown. Smells thin, with hints of char. Thin, slight roast and chocolate. Not much going on, certainly no smoke.

(Rating #1371)

Clear deep amber-brown in colour, long lasting beige coloured head, some lacing. The aroma is lightly smoked, very lightly roasted, some chocolate and a light sweetness. The flavour is of chocolate, moderate sweetness, very light smoke. Creamy mouthfeel, medium/light body, mild carbonation. Finishes mid length, moderately creamy. Started strong, ended boring. Although there is really nothing wrong with this, its pretty lackluster.

650ml bottle from the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario for $3.95.
Purchased on September 21, 2007 and opened on October 26, 2007.
Best before January 2008.

660 ml bottle. Deep black beer with a thick white head. The aroma is quite roasty. Thin body, chocolatey malt and a light soft roastiness. A touch of sourness. Not much oatmeal or smoke, but it’s a decent dryish stout.
