MrManning (1429), London, Ontario, Canada Mar 3, 2008 Bottle- Pours a deep amber body with brownish hues. The head is short lived and pink. Nose is fruit(strawberry) and sugar and weird malts and a slight funk. Tart and sweet strawberry, with very sweet malts and some burnt sugars with very little in the way of balancing(hops). Caramel malt and fruit finish. Cloying, messy, nope, not again. Thanks Dave! robinvboyer (979), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Jun 12, 2007 tried at the c’est what? spring beer night. Very similar to the debeau cherry, this must be another failed experiment. Another fruit beer that doesnt taste of fruit at all, i’m getting more caramel from the maltiness than anything else. there is a slight fruity tinge in the aroma, and i’m not een sure its strawbeery. dismal at best. mabel (1583), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 28, 2007 [164-20061228] 200mL. Smells like really rotten fermented strawberries and strong chocolate. Clear, dark brown body with no head but white bubbles. Flavour is reminiscent of chocolate-covered strawberries. Medium body with an interesting roundness. Terrible first impression but eventually evened out. GregClow (2318), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 13, 2007 Bottle from the brewery. Brown with ruby tints and a tiny head. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, with mild hints of strawberry and pink bubblegum. Same light body as the cherry. Flavour follows the aroma - sweet malt, very faint strawberry. Like the cherry beer, it’s not bad, just boring, and doesn’t have much fruit character. blankboy (2562), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 11, 2007 Bottle courtesy of GregClow. Pours a hazy dark ruby-brown with a spare diminishing off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, some strawberries but not much and a hint of spices -- pretty blah. Flavour of caramel malt and a light taste of strawberries and chocolate. Light bodied. Pretty mediocre stuff.
