3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
200ml Bottle from the brewery, thanks GregClow. Murky deep dark brown, ruby red tints, small slick off murky brown head - Iíll be honest, looks fantastic. Strawberry, wine acidity, sweetness in decent aroma/ Taste - wow, not bad! Thereís a nice fresh decent brown ale base here with just a hint of Strawberry added. The fruit taste is very Strawberry seed like, if that makes any sense, and there is slight bitterness present as a result. Light appropriate carbonation. Sharp edge of wild berries in finish. Served at cellar temperature. Very drinkable; a fruit beer that is a beer first. A huge surprise given my low expectations of this brewery, nice job guys!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Brown body with a small off white head with a light pink tint fades. Sweet aroma with notes of vanilla extract, and rooty notes over a rather muted strawberry, and slight notes of chocolate. Flavour is muted and muddled. Sweet malt, hints of cocoa and very muted strawberry. average palate is a touch flat but slightly more full bodied than average. A bit muted and simplistic at times but hints at potential - needs more of everything, more oomph. I was a bit worried opening this one since the bottle of their wheat I opened earlier in the day was very badly infected, but this one showed no such signs and was pleasant.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle (200ml - clear). Courtesy of GregClow. Deep clear ruby with a large frothy slightly pink lasting head. Aroma is very much like their Debau-Cherry - pretty lush strawberry & cream up front, soon devolving to mildly papery caramel malt with some herbal notes - this oneís a little more appealing than the íCherry - and a sweeter, too. The taste is again a big let-down - slightly tart strawberry gives way to stale cardboard malt and a stale bitterness in the finish. Watery, thin, flat body, slightly ugly aftertaste - interesting, but not a success.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle courtesy of GregClow. Pours a hazy dark ruby-brown with a spare diminishing off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, some strawberries but not much and a hint of spices -- pretty blah. Flavour of caramel malt and a light taste of strawberries and chocolate. Light bodied. Pretty mediocre stuff.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
[164-20061228] 200mL. Smells like really rotten fermented strawberries and strong chocolate. Clear, dark brown body with no head but white bubbles. Flavour is reminiscent of chocolate-covered strawberries. Medium body with an interesting roundness. Terrible first impression but eventually evened out.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: APR 15, 2007 200ml "sample" bottle: Brewer says this is a Brown Ale with real strawberry fruit.
Pours a deep brown ale in the goblet with a small off-white cap that reduces to a glass-lacing ring.
Promising aroma of husky bready-yeasty malts subtle fruit and grass tones with light sweetness.
moderate caramalt spine, medium-light bodied and with a very rounded pleasing character.
Up front we get a cramel-malty brown ale to chew on then light strawberry tartness mingles with the mild hopping to add the perfect balance...very well done here. Finished cleanly, wet with a bready-fruity tartness and little after taste.
The better of the two experimental summer fruit ales.....and very drinkable

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
200ml Bottle, thanks to GregClow for obtaining it from the brewery: This one starts off great with a deep ruby brown pour with a creamy head accompanied by excellent lacing. The aroma is ripe, real strawberries with noticeable alcohol notes and demara sugar. Sadly, things take a bend right around tasting time. The strawberries are muted, as Iíd hoped, but sadly so is everything else. The sugar and alcohol are mildly present - too much alcohol for 5.5% - but the entire thing tastes watered down. No mouthfeel, no substance, no body at all. If they can figure the process out I think the potential is big; reality, not so much.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from the brewery. Brown with ruby tints and a tiny head. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, with mild hints of strawberry and pink bubblegum. Same light body as the cherry. Flavour follows the aroma - sweet malt, very faint strawberry. Like the cherry beer, itís not bad, just boring, and doesnít have much fruit character.
