Nice dark black w a hint of tan head. Quite sweet, would love to try this fermented longer. Hints of toffee.

Draft in a sampler at the brewpub. Pours a deep, dark brown with a finger of dark tan head- very attractive. Notes of coffee, cream, dark chocolate, vanilla, and sugar. Once again, there is a base of something good here but it’s just too sweet. Medium-bodied, with a creamy mouthfeel with backing roast and mild carbonation.

Sampler at the brewpub. A dark body and somewhat heavy mouth feel. A generic roasted taste and hints of caramel and coffee.

Draft at the brewpub. Faint, roasty aroma, lightly coffeeish and vegetal. Flat-looking dark brown-black color, head is very slight. Flavor is also roasty, dry, ashy, even a bit charred, and somewhat tangy at the finish. Thin, watery mouthfeel for the style, body is light-medium. Meh. I didn’t finish the pint.

On Tap at the brewpub- Dark brown with a decent tan head that faded slowly to a light lacing. Very faint aroma primarily of roasted malt. Light coffee with a mild malt taste and very slight bitterness. Medium body but not the creamy texture I would expect from a stout. Another unoffensive brew from the Trailhead Brewery. Not a beer that I would go out of my way for. This seems to be a beer that blends well with a meal more than as a stand alone brew.

Appearance: black, fine tan head, bits of drippy lace
Aroma: sweet and roasty aroma, caramel sweetness is in good balance with the roasted malt

Tap at the brewpub. The body was black with a medium tan head. The aroma was candy sweet chocolate with some walnuts. The taste was milk chocolate with some sassafras. A dry finish.

Has almost no flavor whatsoever. Milky chocolate notes. Bland watery and boring. This brewpub sucks.

5oz sampler at brewpub. Brown with very thin head. Flavors of roasted malt, coffee and mild smoke & chocolate. Malt texture with coffee like taste. Once again thin & watery, not a big fan of this brewpub.

Thin and unfortunate. Not much head, some detectable roasted coffee aromatics. Light bitterness. Possibly thirst-quenching when in good condition. In poor condition, sour, on our last visit. Maybe the pub needs to clean out its lines?
