From tap at the brewpub. Pours cloudy dark orange with a small white head. Aroma is vague butterish and malty. Sweet and slight cornish flavoured. Light bitterness coming through into a dry and bitter finish. Simple yet classic.

Draught, 4.7% at the brewpub. Hazy yellow colour. Stable white head. The flavour is quite fruity, in the good way. Medium bitterness, slightly rough. A little rubbery mouthfeel in the finish along with an OK bready note. Starts off good, but gets rubbery and grainy after a while.

Cloudy blond color, with a nice compact head. The aroma is mild but very nice, with noble hops. The mouthfeel is dry, and the body quite weak, but the malt flavor is decently crispy, and the hopping quite good, with respectable bitterness and some grassy aromatic qualities too, and hay; the final, though, seems a bit simpler. Refreshing, honest, well brewed Helles.

Hazy blond color. Wonderful hop aroma, herbal. Dry, very good hop, lightly fruity. Classic, but a wonderful example. Maybe less hoppy than it used to be in the past.

Blond Lager. Light malt aroma. Good malt flavour, a bit metallic (young?), then it turns into hop flavour, for an aromatic and quite long palate.

Draft. Pours unclear gold with a white head. Grainy malty aroma with a light sweetness. The flavor has pale malts, a touch of sweetness and some floral hops. Not bad.

Draft@Brewery, Bern. Vibrant golden beer with a strong head. The aroma is very dry and yeasty, and the flavour is quite plain but well hopped, bitter and yeasty. Overall quite a reasonable golden beer, yeasty, and dry.

Dark yellow colored, slightly hazy appearance. Little yellow head. Sweet, lemony, yeasty, let’s say positive hand-made aroma. Medium bodied. Flavor is also similar with this yeasty-flowery handmade tone, fruits with some caramel also there. Weird, still ok brew.

Allen (2689) - SWITZERLAND - FEB 11, 2009
Draught at the brewpub. Appearance: It pours a hazy golden beer with a beautiful nicely remaining creamy white head. Lively carbonation. Good lacework. Aroma: Hints of lemon, chestnut and sulphur with a faint hint of burnt plastic. Flavor and palate: Nicely toasty with hints of lemon and chestnut. Herbal. Decent hop profile. Faintly acidic. There is a good bite to this beer. Moderate bitterness. Spritzy mouthfeel. The finish is of burnt plastic and lemon. Overall impression: A pretty good Helles.
