Jine (855), Nutley, New Jersey, USA Feb 16, 2006 Nice IPA, higher in alcohol but without any alcohol taste thanks to the solid bitterness afforded. Slightly better than their regular Kestrels Joy IPA. Thumbs Up AdamSkillin (363), High Bridge, New Jersey, USA Feb 16, 2006 Bitterness masks alcohol, not too different from the other Kestrel IPA, except a little more bitter, less noticeable hop flavor in comparison, maybe overshadowed by the bitterness. Decent strong IPA. weeare138 (924), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 5, 2006 Thanks much to dickinsonbeer for this growler...
Appears a hazy amber with a small off white head that stays for a moment before fading into some scattered lacing around the glass.
Smell is of light orange hops and diacetyl sweet butter and sugary malts. Not an offensive butter bomb but sort of annoying.
Taste is of light pils malt with a bit of caramel and toffee standing out in the buttery batch.
Mouthfeel is sugary sweet with the English yeast strain(most likely ringwood) getting the best of this brew. whaleman (2168), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 4, 2006 Thanks Dickinsonbeer for the growler sample. I’m going against the grain on this one. Clear, deep golden body with a lacy white head. Smells of diacetyl and alcohol. Butterscotch and popcorn butter both come to mind. Aspirin-like flavor with mega-bitterness, slick butter, and vague toasty malts, but primarily just hops and diacetyl.
Dickinsonbeer (2480), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Feb 3, 2006 Pours clear light amber with a thin lasting sticky head. Aroma is sweet caramel malts, floral and citrus hops with a touch of spicy hops. Flavor has a great balance of hops and malt- sweet light crystal malts, lots of sticky hops, but not overdone. Solid body and finish. Very clean and well made.
