scraff (1656), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Jul 28, 2007 Clear orange, creamy off white head. Nose held notes of black tea, grapefruit, and hints of orange. Soft bitter citric tea flavors dominate with just a trace of sweet malt. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bitter finish. Actually more hops then the IPA here. I dig it… HoppityHop (77), USA Jul 27, 2007 This one poured an amber, almost copper color with a nice foamy off white head. The aroma is citrusy, and the taste is a good balance between hops and malt, but the malts win out slightly. It has a bready quality that doesn’t taste like ANY pale ale I’ve ever had, let along Ballantine, which is famous for it’s musty aroma and crisp flavor. Tasty, but at the current version’s 6%, this is more along the lines of an IPA. Nice beer, bad description.
