Bottle received almost 2 years ago when I turned 30. Thank you rlgk! 2010 version. Pours murky wooden brown with a very small beige head that doesn’t leave any trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet, malty and vinous with biscuits, caramel, toffee, sherry, sweet dark bread, wood, raisin bran, hay, dates, leather, alcohol and hints of lemon zest, cardboard and smoke. Taste is sweet, tiny bitter, malty and vinous with sweet dark bread, caramel, toffee, port wine, sherry, hay, raisins, dates, prunes, leather, cardboard, soil, wood and hints of alcohol and smoke. Mouthfeel is round, slightly sticky sweet, tiny boozy, vinous and medium to full bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, tiny bitter and malty with sweet dark bread, caramel, toffee, port wine, hay and lemon zest. Quite good but starting to get unpleasantly oxidized.

UPDATED: FEB 21, 2014 Bouteille 33cl BB 04-2020 as Traquair 2010, courtesy of rlgk. Acajou, col fin beige, blanc cassé disparaissant vite.

Brown pour with a white head. The aroma is full of toffee with some heavy caramel notes. The flavor is more of the same with the addition of some nice dark fruit notes complimenting the toffee and caramel. The alcohol is also present. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

1/27/2011: Traquair 2020... Aroma: Chlorine followed by some rich caramelized malitness. Appearance: Mahogony color; mostly clear; deep beige head. Flavor: Nice caramel maltiness with a slight butterscotch quality; good residual sweetness; almond sweetness; quite European-like; alcohol is mostly hidden. Palate: Medium-bodied; milky texture; smooth mouthfeel. Overall: Nice, but probably needs a year or so to fully develop.

Pours a dark brown, the small head dissipates, but it’s a pretty beer in the glass head or no head.

The aroma is a whole bunch nice things, toffee, maple, apple... but it’s not all dessert, it’s earthy rich and well nuanced all around.

The flavor has a lot of nice chocolate & caramel. It’s still lightly bitter with some very nice light smokiness. Well rounded, big & interesting.
A sipper.

11.2oz bottle. Poured murky medium brown with a short, spotty cap of toasted beige head. The aroma picked up sweet, aged caramel and dark fruits, with earth and fruity yeast accents.. warmth brought out molasses and light, complementary floral notes.. very nice. The flavor found tangy, almost woody notes on the tip of the tongue, with licorice, molasses, and lesser caramel following.. warm, dark fruits and yeasty dryness emanated outward.. tacky and muddled on the finish, with residual tartness. Medium-bodied with low-ish carbonation on the palate.. needed a little more carbo to keep moving.. overall a tasty and interesting brew.
