Sweet, thick caramel on the aroma along with... well, it’s like port with caramel. Dark, full malts with caramel in the mouth, shifting to dark, dried fruit. Falters a bit after that, bit of hop bitterness but thins out.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Veeery dark red color. Dried fruit and alcohol in aroma. More of the same in the flavor together with a malty body and a lot of sugar for the sweet tooth. The bitterness is there, but not in your face, it rather brings it all together. Some oily viscosity, still not as much as many other barley wines and not enough if you ask me. Still, a nice beer but not top in it’s class.

2020 Barley Wine
Pours medium brown with a light head and oily appearance. Hazy and unfiltered. Aroma is malty and sweet with notes of apple juice. Not a huge aroma, but opened up nicely with warmth. Flavor is boozy and sweet with a nice nutty malt note and some mild hop bitterness at the finish. Will age a few bottles to see how this does.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours clear, deep red with no head. Taste is sweet, lightly bitter. Palate is full bodied and crisp. Aroma has chocolates, coffee, grains. The crispy palate would definitely mellow out with a bit of aging.

pours a dark brown with a small brown fizz. Has a smokey malted mollasses flavor that kind of reminds me of coccoa?? not sure!

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a dark brown with a reddish hue. Small head that fades to a thin lace very quickly. Aroma of caramel, spice, ripe dark fruit, and a slight hint of toast. Full bodied flavor of dark bread, dark fruit, floral, herb/spice, malt. Foamy mouthfeel with noticable alcahol. A mild dry, syrupy finish, with a oak note.
Although drinkable, It is a different barley wine than I have had before. While drinking it I had to keep reminding myself that it was barley wine and not a american strong ale. I look at the ingedients on the bottle and no barley. I look into the Traquair website and it is not referred to as barley wine. So I don’t know what this stuff is as far as a "style", it is drinkable, but nothing special.

Taste is well balanced, sweet caramel malt and toffee. Full bodied, rich and syrupy. Very little hop flavor. Finish is somewhat bitter, but nicely bitter. This one is silky smooth and boozy- - a great ale!

Bottle. Latte colored thick foam. Brown and hazy color. Smell of sweet figs, cinnamon, raisins and alcohol. Taste is alcohol, caramell sweetness, figs and a hint of red berrries. Medium mouthfeel with an earthy bitter aftertaste. Not done yet. Needs cellering, now it´s to much alcohol taste.
