COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, Special;
A potent ale brewed at Traquair to celebrate the 900th anniversary of this, Scotland’s oldest inhabited house. Originally a royal hunting lodge, Traquair has been visited by 27 kings and queens and has strong associations with Mary, Queen of Scots and the Jacobites.

Bottle. A very nice beer. Dark red brown with medium and long lasting pale brown head.Aroma of malts, dried fruits, prunes dates. Nice. Taste very thick moutlfeel. Initially licorice and then prunes, plumes and dates. I think this one comes close to Westvletern 12 and Rochefort 10. If a beer rated 3.77 can be underrated, this one surely is.

Slightly port-like caramel and alchohol aroma. Incredibly subtle yet big. This is full-bodied! Slight coffee, some peat and then caramel and hops sneaking in on the finish.

It’s an amazingly rich beer. You meet the complex flavour, rich taste and a palate growing for a long time afterwards. This beer can last for a long time, enjoying all stages for each sip!

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2008 Bottle that Kalli shared at haukur’s tasting on 1 May 2008. Pour is brown - amber - ruby, with only a thin off-white head. Aroma of honey sweetness, malty caramel, roast and peatiness. Very full nose, I sat just smelling this one for quite awhile. Taste is huge, very scotchy, malty, with the caramel muted. The finish is quite peaty and salty. Distinct, and really good. The palate is full and silky. Takk for sharing this one Karl.

Long pleasent finish. Fantastic creamy palate. Wonderfull well-balanced beer, not so powerfull but a beer to drink many times.

Dark brown with medium off white head. Sweet aroma with overripe fruits, roasted malt and caramel. Flavor goes the same way with light chocolate notes. Ends sweet with warming alcohol.

Small beige head on red chestnut body; Quite carameled nose with a little to much plain malt apparent; Big body, to much carbonation, not full enough, sweet and bitter; To thin finish and quite alcohol sharp, lots of malt and dark caramel aromas.
