Bottle shared by shigadeyo. Poured clear brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted dark fruit sweet flavor with a medium to heavy complex sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This beer exceeded my expectations.

Bottle. Clear ruby brown-ish colour with a small, off-white head. Quite interesting aroma with some nice caramel malt, wine, oak, sweet berries, some subtle roast and smoke, syrup, sugar and a little yeast. Taste is very sweet and big on alcohol, wine, some peat and malts. Some dry hops in the finish, providing some balancing bitterness. A little roast as well. Medium carbonation, big body, long duration.

Pours very dark with a minor crimson / mahogany hue and a tan sudsy head. The aroma has lots of toffee, brown sugar, doughiness, deep toasted malt, dates, figs, licorice and light alcohol warmth. Medium / thin slick body with light sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with lots of anise and spice along with abv. The taste is not as complex as the aroma was. This could be age affecting it, but I would have thought this one would age well.

UPDATED: SEP 11, 2010 Bottle. Dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma: Sweet licorice. Taste: Licorice allsorts, berries, wine gums, quite sweet. This is great, but I’m sure it’s way too sweet for some people.

Bottle shared by Sean! Poured a clear amber with an off-white head that quickly dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full of sweet notes such as caramel, toffee and sweet grains. Flavor was similar as there were notes of caramel, toffee and sweet bread. Beer was quite smooth.
