Thanks boutip for this 2007 edition. Pours dark brown with foaming off-white head. Barleywine and sugary aroma, a little old ale in the nose. Above average mouthfeel, with caramel and inetraction of brown sugar. A simple and easy drinking beverage, with some potent alcohol. Satisfing, and sweetish but not overally.

Bottle. Deep amber coloured with a nice lasting beige head. Aromas of malt, caramel, dried fruit, cereal and plum. Flavour of roasted malt, chocolate, warming alcohol, slight metallic, dark fruit and toffee.

From enjoyit via trade. The pour was brown wtih some ruby highlights. The head was short and off-white. The aroma was rich malt, tobacco. earthy and had some hints at raisin. The flavor was thick roasty malt and tobacco with some dark fruits. Excellent medium bodied mouthfeel. A pleasure to drink. Alcohol not noticed.

Single bottle purchased at Riverside in Kent, also spotted at Mustard Seed in Fairlawn. Pour is a clean looking dark reddish brown with a thin cream head. The aroma is a nice old world barley wine scent. Smells very aged and rich, a nice touch that is often missing on barley wines. I don’t so much like the hotter ones, loaded with hops and takes 4 years for the character to develop into something like this. The flavor is rich and earthy, just like it smells. This amount of earthiness is refreshing, tastes like something a viking would enjoy.

33cL bottle from Sliffy--thanks Dan! Clear ruby with a 1 1/2 beige head. Lots of fig, raisin, and prune notes are dominant. There is also some scorched caramel (though not bitter), yeast, and some tobacco. As it warms some alcohol heat shows up. The flavor gets a little more malty than fruity, though there is still plenty of fruit. The finish has bitterness around a 2. Light carbonation with a big full body. There was also a touch of roast. This was very tasty, and was vaguely reminiscent of a dubbel.

(Bottled) Very dark ruby brown with a smallish, but firm, tanned head. Syrupy-caramely-malty, slightly roasted aroma with coffee, calvados, perfume, nutty hops, and some dried fruit. Sweet and malty, caramely flavor with dark, dried fruit, hints of anise and licorice, and faint ashy-burned hints peeking in the finish. Velvety-smooth, quite full-bodied palate with soft carbonation. An excellent, tasty and velvety-smooth dessert barley wine.

Colore marrone scuro con una schiuma direi quasi cremosa,l’aroma è di malto, vaniglia e qualcosa di fruttato.Sapore di malto tostato e frutta scura con sentore di cioccolato fondente.Finale amaro e un poco alcoolica.Ottima.
