It’s an amazingly rich beer. You meet the complex flavour, rich taste and a palate growing for a long time afterwards. This beer can last for a long time, enjoying all stages for each sip!
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 Rettep (902) - SWEDEN - SEP 5, 2010
UPDATED: SEP 11, 2010 Bottle. Dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma: Sweet licorice. Taste: Licorice allsorts, berries, wine gums, quite sweet. This is great, but I’m sure it’s way too sweet for some people.
4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Boystout (1000) - Chisinau, MOLDOVA - OCT 3, 2009
2 years old. Still quite sweet. Interplay of caramel notes, strong dark malt and very delicate "Scottish" smokeness. The aftertaste is so beautifully long and mellow (you naturally feel how the beer is running through your "pipes").
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 vadersnightcap (80) - SCOTLAND - AUG 18, 2007
Damm this rocks!
Cool black bottle with matching black cap. Give a hit of the dark side!
Black with hints of deeps purple with a small head with quickly subsides.
This beer has a great balance between butterscotch sweetness and the spicey bitterness, an enduring conflict which just sucks you in.
deceptively smooth.
brilliiant
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Ljunkan (521) - Drammen, NORWAY - JAN 30, 2008
UPDATED: OCT 18, 2009 33 cl bottle. This is truly an amazing brew from Traquair. Complex and tasty beer with aroma of vanilla and dried fruits. The flavour is extremely enjoyable with chocolate, toffee, dried fruits, raisins and roasted, malty caramel. Slightly better than their magnificent House Ale.
Update: I’ve had four times or so now. It’s very complex and nice, with lots of vinous notes, mulled wine, raisins, dried fruits and toffee. A bit warming in the finish. I recommend everyone to taste this one if they can get it...
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Kalli (502) - Falun, SWEDEN - MAY 10, 2008
Slightly port-like caramel and alchohol aroma. Incredibly subtle yet big. This is full-bodied! Slight coffee, some peat and then caramel and hops sneaking in on the finish.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 YK23 (465) - Haifa, ISRAEL - FEB 18, 2010
Bottle at a tasting: yeast cake with raisins and cheese, cinnamon, fudge, toffee, coconut milk, some dried fruits, demerara sugar, fried butter, some cherry liqeure in the backround, very balanced and complex and rich beer.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 scotty (889) - SCOTLAND - JAN 4, 2009
Bought in Biggar earlier last year, I kept this to see in the New Year. Dark & seductive, good thickish whiteish head, nice lace. Malty nose, but a tad lighter than I expected, slight smokiness there too. Good body, a bit sweet & malty, a hint of smoke again, lovely beer, a crackin’ start to 2009, from an almost local brewery. Yum.
