Massive soft dried fruit, a lot but not firm - breezy oaty and light clove. Initial taste is rich dipped McVitives with a terse darkened malt and oily sweetness. Sweet, half-melted toffee and a light milky cup of tea. Finishes smooth, brown sugar sweet and bright fading bitterness.

Bottle at Chriso going Dutch tasting, 03/07/14. Chestnut brown with a moderate lght tan swirl and edgeing. Nose is light smoke, dark malts, toffee, light peat, dates, spice. Taste comprises dark toffee, very light oxidisation, fruit cake mix, spice, caramelised sugars. Medium + body, fine carbonation, drying close with light booze. Ok barley wine, perhaps a little tired now but still eminently drinkable. The 9% ABV is well integrated.

Bottle shared at chriso’s - many thanks to Craig for this one. Pours clear garnet with a frothy, light tan head. The nose holds old bread, some sweat, aged berries. Medium sweet flavor with nips of oxidation, fruitcake, raisins, toffee, figs. Medium bodied with fine carbonation and oily texture. Sweet finish with fruitcake, old toffee, dried fruits, berries. Certainly some oxidation present but the overall beer is wonderful.
