3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 stravale (387) - Inverness, SCOTLAND - FEB 9, 2012
Bottle from Alesela 030212
Amber brown...clear...thin white head...no lacing..dissipates to rim
Aroma - light sweet caramel malts..hint of hops..some raisin fruit notes
Taste - Caramel malts...some biscuit...bit of toffee..light raisin...some bitter spicy hops....well blended...but too subtle for 5%
Palate - soft carb...smooth. Finish as main flavour...slight bitternes...clean finish...a bit dull
Overall - seems like a lower abv, milder version of the House Ale...its nicely made but a bit dull...not up to heights of the Jacobite or House Ales
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Scopey (1179) - Croydon, Surrey, ENGLAND - DEC 4, 2011
Bottle from the Good Wine shop, Kew. It pours clear mahogany brown, with a decent beige head. The nose is freshly baked brown bread, wood, chocolate and caramel. The taste is wood, leather, chocolate, dark fruits, touch of spice, salted caramel and smoke, with a long dry finish. Medium and moderate carbonation. Good, but not up to the high quality of other Traquair brews.

Previous rating 21/06/11 5/3/5/11 = 2.7
50cl bottle courtesy of Blairgus. Pours a dark honey colour. The nose has /h/oney and cornflakes. The taste has malt and honey. The palate is medium bodied with a medium texture and a finish that drops off but still has a malt note that persists too long. Overall, not a bad session ale, but not inspiring.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Phatman (103) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 30, 2011
On tap in the traquair arms, innerleithen. Light brown ale with a smooth head. Hoppy aroma, with good bitterness drifting into the taste. Flavor could linger a bit longer imo. Just what I needed after teaching mountain bikes!
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 gowdy (387) - Ferney-Voltaire, FRANCE - DEC 28, 2010
50cl bottle for Christmas. Dark brown with small head. A fairly heavy taste while feeling lighter in palate.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Beershine (4561) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - SEP 28, 2010
Bottle. Clear amber, thick head. Delish clean dry fruity and bready malt aroma. Quaff quaff, light on the tongue but long in the flavor. Flavors linger with delightful toasted dark bread and a scrumptious woody, rooty hop bitterness in the finish. Liquid bread character but dry and toasty, not sweet. I could drink a lot of this and would love to have on cask, it’s my kind of session ale.
