3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 KnutAlbert (4386) - Oslo, NORWAY - SEP 22, 2005
UPDATED: OCT 4, 2005 Smoky flavour, hoppy aftertaste. Fermented in old oak barrels. Iteresting, but not more than that. Some small breweries do their best to be very authentic and special, but their beers do not necessarily turn out great. I have two mote bottles from the same brewery – hope they turn out more exciting.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 GarethYoung (1109) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - SEP 4, 2005
[bottle from peckhams] pours a copper colour with a moderate head. nose is caramel malts, with some roasteyness and a light smokeyness. body is light, finish is a little bitter. hardly mind blowing but good solid stuff, went quite well with a steak i did on the bbq.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 kook (2033) - Perth, Western Australia, AUSTRALIA - JUL 12, 2005
Lovely deep amber wtih a long lasting beige head. Rotting wood, grass clippings and port combined with a rustic herbal aroma. Flavour start sweet and fruity, finishes very herbal and slightly woody. Medium bodied, and very interesting.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JonMoore (1573) - Loughborough, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JUN 20, 2005
Amber coloured with a slim, foamy, off-white head. Malty, caramel and fruity aroma. Malty and fruity with a hoppy finish. Light to medium mouthfeel. Pretty good, if unremarkable.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 tiggmtl (4467) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 13, 2005
Musty, dry, caramel aroma has some musty, sweaty, wet paper-like notes. Clear copper coloured body is topped by a low, off-white head that laces well. Caramel malts and fair bitterness with very dry, lightly roasty finish that shows some warm spices. Medium-light body with low carbonation. It has a tired, dusty mouthfeel. Must be a bad bottle. Sampled at Mondial de la Bière 2005.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 ClarkVV (3578) - Allston, Massachusetts, USA - JUN 13, 2005
2005 bottle at the Mondial, 6/4/05. Aroma of musty hay, honey and sweaty feet/gym shoes. Also a subtle boysenberry/blackberry note in there. Copper-red color, clear and filtered with a beige head, some retention and no lacing. Flavor of peppery spices, toasted grains, dry papery feel to it. Light caramel with touches of house yeast. Medium-light body. I’m betting something went wrong here between Scotland and Montreal.
