COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mainly available filtered in bottles, though part of the production goes unfiltered into cask.
The traditional brewing process used in the production of Traquair House Ale consists of the following; 1. Traditional infusion mashing process. The wort is then drawn off and boiled during which process the hops are added. 2. The wort is now cooled and pitched with top fermenting yeast under controlled temperature. It is then fermented in oak over a period of seven days. The beer is then transferred into cold storage tanks or barrels and matured over a period of weeks. After maturation the beer is filtered prior to packing.

Absolute ecstasy ... everything is perfect even better when conditioned in bottle. I had 2003 and it was like a cognac of beers. Amazing

BBD June 18. Dark amber pour with a deep dark ruby cast. Exceptional head, lacing and retention. Rich nose of dark fruit and malt - figs, raisins and plums against a rich malt sweetness. The body is heavy medium with a nice slick, almost creamy, texture. Normal carbonation with a bit of effervescence on the finish. The flavor profile is complex and well balanced. While not as intense as Jacobite, it follows the nose as well. The dark fruits flow into a light hop bitterness over a slightly sweet dark malt background. The smooth finish leaves a bit of lingering oak.

(Traquair House Ale) Bottle 330 ml at home, poured into a snifter. BB 2023. ABV 7.2% Deep brown red colour on the body, one finger of thin tan head sitting on top. Average retention, it leaves light lacing around the glass after it has collapsed and with every swirl of the glass. Aroma of caramel, red fruits, light vanilla, some wood even, hints of alcohol. Taste follows the aroma, caramel, light vanilla, slightly nutty, red stewed fruits, mildly sweet all in all, some roast character too. Very good. Faint bitterness on the aftertaste. Medium thin body, I’d like it a bit thicker. Good carbonation though. Slightly sticky palate. Nice, tasty beer.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. Dark brown color with a nice dark red glare coming through, medium to full sized beige head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is quite faint, don’t get much really. Taste is malts, a bit thin, lightly a hint of roastyness, a hint of raisins and dark fruits, lightly bitter. Decent body, medium carbonation.

330 ml bottle. BBE Aug/22. Ukkometso, Tampere, Finland. Dark ruby red colour with a tiny off-white head. Berries, malt, sweetness, mild hops and mild alcohol in the aroma. The flavour is sweet malt, alcohol, berries, mild bitterness and mild vinous elements. Smooth and rich. 7.2% kicks slightly in after couple of sips. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sweet smelling molasses and toffee. Pours a dark ruby color with good head. Good carbonation. Rather sweet tasting, somewhat over powering for me. Overall, a rather Scottish beer that is a bit too sweet.

Way to estery and vegemity for me to fully appreciate, though this did come towards the end of a tasting. Along with the aforementioned flavours included dark fruits, some nuts and chocolate. Will likely need to revisit, though it will have it’s work cut out to impress, based on this outing.
