Mainly available filtered in bottles, though part of the production goes unfiltered into cask.
The traditional brewing process used in the production of Traquair House Ale consists of the following; 1. Traditional infusion mashing process. The wort is then drawn off and boiled during which process the hops are added. 2. The wort is now cooled and pitched with top fermenting yeast under controlled temperature. It is then fermented in oak over a period of seven days. The beer is then transferred into cold storage tanks or barrels and matured over a period of weeks. After maturation the beer is filtered prior to packing.

Appearance: Deep burgundy, clear, with almost no foam head. Aroma: Caramel, toffee, and a slight woodiness. Nothing stands out. Taste: Rich malty sweetness with flavors of bread crust, caramel, and molasses. A definite roastiness stands out on the backside, which wasn’t noticeable in the aroma. Mouthfeel: Medium with a light carbonation, and a hint of alcohol warmth. Finish: Malt forward with a lingering roast. Overall: A showcase of rich malt without some of the smokiness found in other examples. It’s fermented in oak, but I didn’t pick up any vanilla, and only a minimal toast or chocolate flavor.

Really old backlog rating. 33cl bottle from A Tutta Birra, Milano. It pours a brown color with ruby edges and a medium beige head. Aroma is sweet, fruity, boozy, rich, sticky, with vanilla, molasses, persimmon, maramalde. Taste is slightly smoky, fruity, malty. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, sweet but delicious

Bottle. Pours a intense ruby red with big creamy beige head. Aroma is sweet and very malty and lot of dried fritid. Burnt figs and raisins. Port’ish. Taste is toasty nuts and bit portish with rather thin body. Slight dry finish. Bad aftertaste with booze. Think it’s too old or stores bad.

330ml bottle @ Chez Sophie. Pours a deep dark brown with minimal off-white head. Aroma is cocoa. Taste is fruit cake, chocolate, caramel and malts, very smooth with no single element over-powering. Lovely stuff.

Reddish brown colour, beige head. Aroma of caramel, quite sweet nose. Banana flavour, belgian yeast, malts, brown sugar. Finish yeast, banana, caramel, cloying sweet. Feels quite like a sweet Belgian Style Ale.

25/X/14 - 33cl bottle @ The Autumn Gathering formerly known as RBBAG Mons (Gent) - BB: VIII/2022 (2014-1265) Thanks to Martinus for sharing the bottle!

Clear dark purple brown beer, small irregular beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: caramel, dried fruits, very malty, hay, cow fodder, bit sweet. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: hoppy, bit of citrus, caramel, bitter, dark chocolate. Aftertaste: some chocolate, bitter hops, pretty watery, spicy, coriander notes. Meh, no idea what all the craze is about. :(

Bottle. Pours a mostly clear darker brown color with a moderate light brown head on there. Nose has some caramel and a bit of yeast, and hints of wood to it. Taste is only slightly sweet with a bit of nutty caramel, and feels extremely smooth. Decent brew.

Bue en bouteille. Encore meilleur que sa petite soeur. Peu de mousse, peu de CO2. Arômes de whisky, de bois fumé. Excellente.
