(33 cl bottle) Dark brown coloured, clear, with a small light beige head. Initial impression is an aroma of pure licorice pastilles, and a little metallic. After a while, some more roasted malty notes, dried fruit and sherry aromas come into the mix, and finally even a small trace of hops on the palate. Taste is rather sweet, with a moderate bitterness as well. Mouthfeel is less sticky than expected, medium to full body, soft carbonation. Might improve with keeping. Young as it is now, it is not among my favourites, mainly because I am not too fond of that licorice aroma. But that’s just my taste - it is certainly a well-made and complex beer.

Poured from 33cl bottle. Dark brown with off-white head. Deep dark red fruit aroma with some caramel and roast. Same taste, but pretty thin texture.

Heck of a beer! Makes me proud to be Scottish. Pours a clear and looks like ice tea out of the bottle. Orange brown with a creamy, off-white head leaving quite fine lacework. Lovely aroma of sherry and overripe fruit. Full-bodied with a very soft and smooth mouth feel. Very complex flavor pattern with woody, mild oak accents and vanilla, caramel, sherry, plenty of fruit and even some vitamin accents and a nice smooth grain finish. The finish is dry. Very complex and pleasant Amazing.

DØE. Dark amber with small off-white head. Aroma is malt, fruit and caramel. Flavour is malt, fruit, caramel, medium sweet, toasted, hop, little wood, little chocolate and a little bitter.

Pours brown, thick and hazy. Small head, off-white, creamy. Good lacing. Mild aroma, led by sweet chocolate, cookies, vanilla, smoothly fruity. Smooth palate, medium body, balanced finish. Taste is licorice, vanilla, amazing balance, deep and compex.

Intense brown colour, medium carbonation. Toffee, banana and mature fruit gorgeous aroma. Full bodied taste with some bitterness at the end as we expect from an irish ale.

33 cl bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika. Pours clear red with a very small beige head. Aroma of malts, raisins and caramel. Some weak notes of wood and alcohol. Flavour is sweet and this is a dessert beer. Low carbonation, medium sweetness, slick mouthfeel. Well balanced.

Bottle. Quite a nice wee beer from Traquair house (the oldest inhabited house in Scotland!). Pours a ruby red body, little to no head, quite a peaty aroma. Liquorish and malty taste with a light spice and warming finish. Lovely!

Pours a clear dark red. Thin tan head that dissipates fairly quickly. Strong, sweet aroma of malt and dried fruit. Flavor is raisins, dried cherries, toast and just a hint of vanilla. A little more alcohol burn than usual for the style. Medium body. Slightly slick, oily finish and very mild carbonation.

Great colour - deep ruby red, looks like ribena, unfortunately it has about as much head as a ribena too. Aroma is malty, cereal, some biscuit, port, alcohol. Flavour is mild sweetness, a bit of bitterness, well balanced, but definately missing something. The texture is slick, but very thin. Drinkable, but not great.
