COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mainly available filtered in bottles, though part of the production goes unfiltered into cask.
The traditional brewing process used in the production of Traquair House Ale consists of the following; 1. Traditional infusion mashing process. The wort is then drawn off and boiled during which process the hops are added. 2. The wort is now cooled and pitched with top fermenting yeast under controlled temperature. It is then fermented in oak over a period of seven days. The beer is then transferred into cold storage tanks or barrels and matured over a period of weeks. After maturation the beer is filtered prior to packing.

The aroma is soy, raisin, and roasted malt. The appearance is a red brown with a small head. The flavor is the strength of this beer. Plenty of alcohol with vanilla, well roasted malt, caramel, oak, and some bitterness. The palate is smooth and the finish is lightly bitter and very similar to scotch. Nice

Pours clougy red\brown with a quick disipating short tan head. Nose of brown sugar, raisin, tart and lightly sweet with a good dose of spice. Some berries. Palate at points allows the alcohol and harshness to show a little strong. Finish is warming and in the end the beer is essentially balanced despite some flaws eminating from the centre.

Raisiny brown. Clear. Dense, pale head. Smells of malt, dried plums, raisins, pepper forest mushrooms. Slightly smokey. Tastes burnt, bitter, a bit sourish, metallic. It’s cooling yet hot and liquor-like. I like it, the flavour was a surprise.

Pours dark brown and a fine light brown head. Aroma is malty and grassy with a sweet tone of brown sugar and light spices. Lots of malt in the flavor as well with a pickling spicy note and a warming tone of alcohol. A bit thin in the body, but very Scottich and pretty nice.

20 year old bottle from Logan. A murkey deep brownish color w/ no head to speak of. Super sweet aroma big and malty carmel notes and some dark fruits, fig & plum. weak palate some coating. Flavor is very sweet carmel light grains and a smoke componenet. Seems to have held up well for a 20 yr old beer. Pretty good.

Dark mahogany hue, with a shy tan head, the nose has some notes of yeast, very malty, with a winey accent, hint of oakiness in the aroma follows through on a raw malted full bodied palate, with a dark roasted malt, touch of pepper spiciness, black bitter chocolatey note, leading towards a robust malty accent and a delightful mild dryness finish.

Medium beige offwhite creamy head with larger bubbles. Dark red-brown body. Sweetish musty aroma rather like whipped cream. Sweet, smoky, lightly roasty taste with notes of licorice. Sweetish, dry aftertaste. Good, quite interesting.

Deep mahogany color with a quickly dissipating head. Red wine nose. Very dry, with an almond, slightly amaretto flavor. Overall, a bit bland and flat, but better than average.

Wow, what a surprising disappointment- Very odd grayish red-black color. Head was thin but lively. Nose of sweet port/sherry. Wood, licorice, raisins, chocolate. Slightly disappointing palete. Incredible dryness sets in at the last 1/5 of the glass.
