Mainly available filtered in bottles, though part of the production goes unfiltered into cask.
The traditional brewing process used in the production of Traquair House Ale consists of the following; 1. Traditional infusion mashing process. The wort is then drawn off and boiled during which process the hops are added. 2. The wort is now cooled and pitched with top fermenting yeast under controlled temperature. It is then fermented in oak over a period of seven days. The beer is then transferred into cold storage tanks or barrels and matured over a period of weeks. After maturation the beer is filtered prior to packing.

Thick sweet malty low carbonatated creamy scottish great for sipping. Now if that isn’t a great run-on of adjectives I don’t know what is.

I prefer the Orkney Skullsplitter, personally. Decent flavor and very complex. A bit bitter. Strong and very malty.

Bought in 1985 and hidden in my cellar all those years. Alc % on the label: 6%. Overwhelming porto aroma. Carbonation has almost disappeared. Porto taste with blackcurrant, raisins and pure chocolate. A bit metallic and buttery aftertaste. A very special beer that has survived 17 years of storage under less than ideal circumstances well.

Amber coloured beer with a medium creamy head. Fruity and woody aroma. Rather sweet, sharp taste. Bitter aftertaste.

Ruby colour with disappearing head. The taste is very complex: it's malty, with light traces of caramel and wine flavour and it's a bit salty. Very particular, but not really my favourite beer.

The aroma is soy, raisin, and roasted malt. The appearance is a red brown with a small head. The flavor is the strength of this beer. Plenty of alcohol with vanilla, well roasted malt, caramel, oak, and some bitterness. The palate is smooth and the finish is lightly bitter and very similar to scotch. Nice

Pours clougy red\brown with a quick disipating short tan head. Nose of brown sugar, raisin, tart and lightly sweet with a good dose of spice. Some berries. Palate at points allows the alcohol and harshness to show a little strong. Finish is warming and in the end the beer is essentially balanced despite some flaws eminating from the centre.
