COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mainly available filtered in bottles, though part of the production goes unfiltered into cask.
The traditional brewing process used in the production of Traquair House Ale consists of the following; 1. Traditional infusion mashing process. The wort is then drawn off and boiled during which process the hops are added. 2. The wort is now cooled and pitched with top fermenting yeast under controlled temperature. It is then fermented in oak over a period of seven days. The beer is then transferred into cold storage tanks or barrels and matured over a period of weeks. After maturation the beer is filtered prior to packing.

A good Scottish ale - full of malty flavour.

having tried the jacobite version prior to tasting this one, i was not all that impressed. pretty much a ’dressed down’ version of the jacobite ale. fruity, vinious aroma, lovely ruby brown color, but the FLAVOR just wasn’t there.

Interesting. Woody aroma. Deep brown color. Little head that was gone almost immediately. Initial flavor was sweet but then it started to focus into more of a bar-b-que flavor. medium to light body. Short finish.

Bottled. Dark brown/reddish colour. Vineous, iron-like aroma. Juniper berry background in the flavour with chocolate notes and quite vineous too with a slight smokey finish. Long aftertaste!

Nice but not noteworthy. Very chocolatey and almost stout like in taste and mouthfeel.

Sweet nose to this brown pour with off white head. Very sweet off the start with a big bitter finish. I liked the balance to this beer a lot.

Dark murky brown color, nearly opaque. Looks almost like melted chocolate. Complex malty aroma smells carmel, chocolate, and even a little burnt but mostly sweet. Head quickly dissapates. Very rich, full, malty, nutty body... smooth. Coats the mouth nicely. Aftertaste is a bit rough, quite acidic and alcoholic. With every sip that rough aftertaste comes through stronger and stronger... must be the alcohol. A great beer, but loses points in the follow-through.

Not worth the price... Deep brownish, small head. Sweet alcohol in the nose. taste was plain... lotsa sweet alcohol that really coated my mouth and killed every other flavor that was hidden here.

fruity, and yeasty aroma with notes of pear, alcohol, and oak; heavy malt flavor with some earthy and musty highlights, maybe some dark fruits in the background, definitely winey and portish; thick and oily palate with a slightly bitter/sour finish; the alcohol is there, no doubt; this beer has alot of flavors that, overall, don’t seem to blend very well: decent at best.

Malty caramel with raisins. Not a huge fan of this style but didn’t mind it at all.
