Iced tea brown with a bubbly vanilla ice cream head. Yeah, the it’s a little wet smelling, with some yeast. Malty with a slight meat flavor, which I suppose reflects the interesting aroma. It almost tasted flat at first, but then got a decent wave of carbonation. Interesting and decent brew, and can’t say I’ve had another much like it so far.

Aug 19, 2008 Cloudy and dark brown with minimal head. Very malty taste , maybe a little too sweet, but I like the smooth creamy texture. The finsih is not so sweet, very long and bitter. A good beer, but way too expensive for what you get.

Aug 15, 2008 Clear reddish brown of color with a beige head. A malty nose with notes of fruits, bread, nuts and syrup. A flavor with malt, toffee, syrup and dark fruits.

Aug 11, 2008 11.2 oz bottle. Poured a dark brown with a small off white head. Not getting the complex aroma that all the other raters experienced but all I could detect was some sort of metallic smell. Flavor didn’t seem to be impacted by the aroma though as it tasted fantastic. Full mouth feel with an initial sweet flavor that was reminiscent of honey that finished into a nice toasted malt

Aug 9, 2008 Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy, dark reddish-brown body with a slim ring of white bubbles.
Smell: Rich, complex maltiness smelling of chocolate, caramel, roast, and syrup-coated nuts along with a modicum of dried dark fruitiness and splash of spiced rum.
Taste: Dark maltiness tasting of burnt toast spread with dark caramel and chocolate. Raisiny, vinous fruitiness. Faint touch of alcohol. Rather subtle hop character yielding on a light spicy bitterness. Taste of rum raisin on the finish. Hints of maple syrup and bittering herbs in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-low, fine carbonation.
Drinkability: A satisfying, malty brew that delivers both on taste and complexity, but still remains fairly easy to drink. Jacobite’s up next!
