COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The famous Bear Gates guarding the approach to Traquair House, near Pebbles, have been closed since 1745 - when the last person to pass through them was Bonnie Prince Charlie.

Now, 250 years later, the ancient Traquair Brew House celebrates the Jacobite cause by producing this potent spiced ale to a traditional fine recipe. Sip slowly and remember the old toast to the "King O'er the Water."

Bottle. Courtesy of TVT. Cheers Tim. Clear, ruby red. Film and halo of beige head. Chocolate and raspberry. Not unlike a Raspberry Ruffle chocolate bar. Some stewed apple. Some cinammon and black pepper. Taste is soft, smoky sweet. Hint of fruity dryness. Soft carbonation. Smooth, albeit a bit watery. Finishes light, toffee sweet. Light, fruity dry close. Very drinkable.

Bomber into a pint glass. Pours a deep brown, almost black, with a medium khaki head that slowly fades into a disk on the surface. Nose is dark roast malt with a hint of toffee. Taste is moderately sweet dark roast malt, with coriander and spice on the finish. Moderate carbonation with a creamy mouth feel and long finish. Nice.

Bottle 0.33L. Dark brown body with reddish nuances; average, frothy, tan head, mostly diminishing with some nice lacing, though. Moderate malty (roasted, caramel) aroma with moderate-to-heavy notes of dark fruits (plums, blueberries), wine ans spices. Moderate sweet flavour with light-to-moderate roasted bitterness; notes of licorice and light chocolate. Medium-to-full body with creamy texture; soft carbonation. Very nice and complex beer!

Awesome brew.Pours a dark, opaque murky brown with a thin beige head, creamy and lignering. A nice aroma of toffee, molasses and cocoa with a heavy oak and barrel emphasis. Nicely done brew with mild bitterness, nice rich and complex malts and a sultry oak aged presence.
