3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 tombyars (686) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - NOV 21, 2011
Tasted this at the Troon Beer Festival in October 2011. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear copper in colour with a thin white head. Fresh green apple in the short aroma. Robust creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a fiery ginger bread base with sweet hints of golden syrup and brown sugar. Spicy hop resins impart a slightly dry bitter aftertaste. Finish is robust and warming with a slight sherry and oak cask notes. An excellent session bitter which is full flavoured and tastes far stronger than the og suggests.
