COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with English malted barley and four varieties of hops gives this beer its complex flavors, smooth taste, and drinkablility not often found in a dark beer.

Light brown and amber body. The head is slightly off white and large at first. The aroma is apples with some light flowers and some notes of nutmeg. The taste is slightly sour apple core with some oak and old milk. The mouthfeel is highly carbonated. I imagine this is a little better on tap.

20-May-07 (12 oz bottle: Obtained 14-Sep-06 in trade with Pailhead, thanks Kevin!) Let’s start with the best feature: the appearance. Impressively voluminous and bubbly, the off-white color of the head looks out of place on top of such a dark, ruddy-amber beer. As the head recedes, it leaves irregular rings and patches of thick foam on the glass. Aromatically, there’s hardly any maltiness, just a light scent of crackers and yeast, and it’s not the least bit inviting. Sipping with trepidation, the flavor starts with a bit of vague maltiness, but that is almost immediately lost, replaced with tart and acidic cola, and the stale apple finish is just plain awful. Thin and watery on the palate, but with solid carbonation at least. I could be more forgiving of the off-flavors and would try to seek out another bottle, but when it comes right down to it, this beer has no underlying character and isn’t worth the effort of a retaste. This is just bad beer.

Purchased a six pack of bottles in Frankfort, MI. This beer was not too impressive overall. Burnt aftertaste with not much flavor to speak of. Will not buy again.

Clear dark amber wth a small white head. The aroma is light, some caramel and bread. The flavor is lightly acidic, caramel and cherry. Light, thin body with soft carbonation.

From the bottle to the glass, this has a very uninteresting pour. Palish-brown in color. Has a sublte sweet aroma but quite dry on the nostrals. Not to much here in the way of taste, very thin infact. Leave this one on the shelf

Tap at Hofbrau, Interlochen, MI. Pours a tea brown with clinging lace. Aroma is a sweet, eucalyptis menthol. Flavor is a suede-like sour malt. Watery palate. Ummm, this bear needs to stay hibernated- bizarre mix of aroma and flavor.

In the bottle at Bill B.’s birthday party. Dark amber to light brown with an off-white head. Has a brown sugar aroma, maybe the kind from a scented candle. Burnt and woody taste. The flavor does not match the aroma. Has a succinctly bitter finish.

AnotherTraverse BC beer that tastes like fermented Lipton’s Iced Tea w/ Lemon. Gross. I’m notwasting any more money on TCBC brews.

Pourse an easy brown, no sediment. Aroma of weak caramel, malt. Flavor is weak barley, malt, hint of hop, unentertaining.

Nose is slightly roasted but has a sour acidity that hovers. Sweet caramel body melds well with spicy hop bitterness, although both are fairly light and distant. Overall thin throughout and probable for the masses. Just OK.

Sampled on draught @ Traverse Brewing Company in Williamsburg, Michigan. Ruby color with a creamy head. Diacetyl was present in both the aroma and flavor, but the butter toffee flavors seemed to benefit the beer and blended well with the unique malt character. Bready malt aroma with hints of molasses, caramel, toffee, roast, toasted malts and a light hint of herbs from the hops. Well extracted and well stuctured malt flavor with toasty and roasty tones and hints of chocolate and nutty flavors. I thought this was quite nice.
